| The other two rangers have been on hold because of the holidays and finishing my Secret Santa gift. Can't post a pic until he is received, but I can say that my giftee should be very pleased with his new Corsair Prince | |

| Just went through this entire thread (again). Still blows me away and inspires me. Also makes me want to give up painting a bit, but I'm stubborn so I'm going to just get better instead. I need to get back to painting regularly.
Thanks for the continued advice and inspiration.
Also, do you still thin paints when you use a wet palette?

| My giftee received his Secret Santa Gift giving me free reign to post pics I was pretty happy with the overall effect, though I truly wish that the Yriel model didn't take 3 weeks to arrive. I truly would have liked more time for the banner with the outcast rune. Overall I would say that I really had fun with it. Now on to my own Corsair prince... | |

You have an AWESOME DE army, love the custom hellions and well... custom everything else you have done pretty much! Paint jobs are CRAZY GOOD!
Thanks for all of the great inspiration for my DE. Mind if I pick your brain if/when I go to make my Baron leader?

| ESE, once a again a really nice looking model and conversion. My thoughts, critial and otherwise. Colors are spot on, they work well together and no single color dominates the others. The white helmet is just strong enough that the eye is drawn to the helmet. 2 things that jump out at me with a little time to look it over is the highlighting I think could be a little stronger, or darken the shading, but I think really a little more highlighting would accentuate the shading really well. The other is that the base needs a little more something on the large open area right under his feet. Maybe a small piece/tuft of dead grass or a rock or another skull right under his right foot and about halfway between the edge of the base and the tip of the prow his is jumping off of. its a small thing really, but it would add visual interest to the entire model and remove a large open area from the entire model at the same time. I give it 2 thumbs up and a toe. | |

You're spot on with both of these observations. I sort of motored my way through painting that one. Looking at it now I can see your point about the highlights not being as pronounced as they should be. The lighting in the photo (I had the lamp to close when I took the photo) does wash them a out a tad, but the overall highlighting is less developed than what I normally apply to a character model. The static grass is something that I've done with other armies that I've used this basing method with. (Cryx, Ogre Kingdoms, CSM's) I'm holding off until I have time to do a large chunk of them at once, such as for a tournament. Static grass highlighted with Bubonic Brown/Bleached bone would complement the purple pretty well. (I have the same color scheme more or less for my Cryx army) Onto today's offering: This is the second of three minis that Eye of Error gave me in the Secret Santa Raid. I repositioned the model on the base a bit, switched out the blast pistol and agonizer for a splinter pistol and venom blade. I've been looking to paint up a couple of Hekatrix models with this combo (including PGL)for my Wyche units. Those Dragon Prince Torso's are pretty boss for Dark Eldar conversions. On to the third of the minis that Eye of Error converted for me: The Action Archon!

| Back to business. I took inventory tonight of my unpainted DE collection. I'd really like to hammer this stuff out before any new Eldar stuff distracts me from finishing this army. At last count my painted 6th edition stuff weighed in around 3800. The owner of the LFGS is looking for a 5,000pt game, 3 force organization charts, no Apoc stuff to play against his various SM armies. I like to do this without dipping into my old painted 3rd edition DE. It's going to be a hell of a grind to get these pounded out, but with a plan in mind it is doable. I think that I'm going to knock the coven stuff out first, and then on to a column here and there. Got some assembly to do. | |

Not sure exactly how I earn those rewards though... finishing a column in one of the categories perhaps? Whenever I feel like it?

| Started tackling that list this weekend. I've started assembling parts of the lists that I want to tackle first. I've gone pretty Wyche Cult/Coven heavy for a while and figured that I should get around to painting some of the stuff from the Kabalite units. I've never played with the 3-man Lanceborn unit and figured that an 86pt unit with two lances probably will make their points back most games. These guys still have a bit of work ahead of them, but should get finished by tomorrow night. I usually don't assemble things until I have time to base them. As a result, I don't play with units that I haven't painted yet. It dawned on me that this practice does a couple of things: 1. I don't tend to experiment with new units very often. 2. I lose momentum with my painting. Because I have to assemble/base/prime models before painting, I lose that post-painting high momentum after finishing a unit. To combat this I am trying to have multiple batches of 3 models(my magic number) It also looks like I'm going to be bringing 5-6,000 points to an Apoc game at the end of February. If that doesn't motivate me to paint new units, I don't know what will | |
