- Hi there! This may well have been covered but there are 28 pages to this thread. Firstly, incredible looking models! I've only seen the first three pages and they look great.
On the first page, I love the look of all the gold you use for the guns and knee pads etc on the Warriors. Could you tell me how you've achieved this effect please? That would be awesome, many thanks. Keep up the beautiful work. Yeah, it was covered earlier (I know, there a lot of pages; totally don't blame you for not sifting through all of them ) I use the following paints/steps: 1. Basecoat with Privateer Press(P3) Blighted Gold 2. Wash with 50/50 mix of Aggrax Earthshade(?, whatever Devalan Mud was) and thinned P3 Coal Black 3. Highlight with P3 Brass Balls 4. Final highlight using a 23 year-old bottle of Shining Gold; this looks like P3's Platinum. The old bottle of Shining gold has amazingly not dried out. It was from my first painting set that I bought! Not sure how it hasn't dried out after a decade and a half....it most likely has an ingredient that is probably giving me cancer Hope this helps and I'm glad that you enjoy the project log

| I would go buy the Aggrax Earthshade. Reikland is more of a Chestnut color and will give it a reddish tone(you're going for a dark greenish tint). P3 Coal Black has a bluish-green tint to it that is closer to the GW color Sotek Green mixed with a little black. Sotek Green: Coal Black: I use all three brands(P3, GW, Vallejo). It really depends on the color. The majority of my paints are GW. | |

| The old name for that colour ( or a colour that looked about the same) was Hawk Turquoise, and seriously, this is more turquoise / blue than green, but hey, it's GW, there you go! | |

| Ooops, I meant Stegadon Scale Green: Though Sotek Green looks more like the sample of Coal Black, Stegadon Scale Green is much closer. And yes, Sotek Green is the replacement for Hawk Turquoise, though it seems to be greener rather than blue compared to the old Hawk Turquoise. I miss Hawk Turquoise | |

| I feel ya, ESE. I based my DE's colour scheme off Hawk Turquoise and luckily a friend gave me 1 full pot she had found lying about and not using. I guess that one will have to last until I find a fluff excuse to alter the colour scheme (allied Kabal or something) on some of my units. | |

| It's been a while; life has been busy with work, actually painting Epic Armageddon minis, and not being able to upload photos from my phone to my Picasa account. My poor project log has been neglected I'm getting back to plugging away at finishing this army someday. I'm finishing the details on the last three Reavers and glued this guy together for painting this weekend. The plan is to start using 3 Taloi with 2 units of Grotesques as shock units while I run 5-6 troop units (Wracks, Kabalites, Wyches) in Venoms. Should be nasty, it will surely be fun. I'll get some progress pics up this weekend after I prime this big guy and get back to painting things purple and evil | |

| Love this project, love the Khymera like eveybody else, except that I did buy the models myself, I know how awesome they are irl.
So many cool units, I'll keep an eye on this one, it's pretty awesome.
I'm also very glad to see somebody use the real Grot models, they are also very well done, the problem is of course the single similar model, but you converted like I plan to, when i buy some. I've only seen and touched the model, but I haven't bought one yet. I wonder if the legs can be changed, don't care if I have to use greenstuff, it would be a bit lame to have several guys all running/walking exactly the same way.

| Thanks Soul Drinker! Bad, fuzzy lighting, but I did get my last Reavers done (2 arena champs and another heat lance) Scrambling to get the Talos done for the Monthly Vow (I've long since abandoned the idea of getting that Tau commander suit and Mournfang Cavalry finished this month ) I'm going to try out the 3 Talos list with Reavers/ lots of Venom mounted troops and two Raider mounted Wyche squads this month. Perhaps I might add another painted Venom to the fleet next month. | |

| Obligatory proof of life update pic: Almost done with the black highlights. I'll wrap these up tomorrow and finish up the metal sections. Hopefully will have this guy done by this weekend. Those Epic IG models took WAY too long to finish up. (You can see the last stand of infantry in the pic to the right) I'll just need to convert the two Grotesques and paint them up before the end of the month for the Monthly Vow. Quick, before all of those shiny Craftworld Eldar get here | |

| can't wait till this beast is finished.
BTW what colors do you use on your armor? I'm very familiar with the technique you used, but can't tell for sure what colors you used. Same for the hair and the freehands on the reaver frontal hulls, that blue/green, what color is that? Is the color you use for the bright highlights a mix or an existing color?

P3 Murderous Magenta mixed with black (roughly 2:1) 2. Same mix with more Murderous Magenta (roughly 4:1) 3. Murderous Magenta 4. Murderous Magenta/Administratum Grey (I'm still using old pots of Fortress Grey) 1:1 5. Straight final highlight of Fortress Grey Blue-green color: 1. Some random mix of Enchanted Blue and Dark Angels Green 2. Some random amount of Scorpion Green and a little Rotting Flesh added 3. Even more Rotting Flesh added. Sorry, I mixed large batches of these a long while ago and have been using them for so long that I can't remember the exact mix/ratio Hope this helps! ESE

| So the Talos is done. I decided to drop my "no transfers" policy. Pulled out the other two Taloi and my Cronos, applied gloss varnish to the area where I wanted to put the transfer for the Coven of the Ebon Sting.....after which I realized that coven is not represented on the transfer sheet I really don't want to paint them by hand....but I will Pics to follow. | |

| I feel your pain on the transfers. I want so badly to apply them, but even the 'Eavy Metal guys can't get those transparent edges to disappear on the models. Can't wait to see your freehand. | |

| Forgot to post the completed Talos from a bit back: I used a gloss varnish from Testors rather then the usual Dullcote. I think that I may have to go back through and refinish my army with the gloss. It brightens and deepens the colors while bringing out the highlights more. Doesn't show well in the crappy cell phone pics, but in person it is noticeable. I have a considerable amount of repair work to do to the poor army(spiky bits have snapped off EVERYWHERE) and may refinish them as I go along. Barely qualifies as allies, but this is the Spiritseer that I'm working to complete. Just have to 3-stage highlight 50 gems and paint the runes on the robe.... | |

| That spirit seer is awesome ESE! I've started a war walker but I'm not really happy with the scheme, was supposed to be for the archons challenge but I'm tempted to withdraw and start again. So is the spirit seer going to go with your alaitoc force? | |

| Wow, the Spirit Seer is awesome. I seriously wasn't a fan of the model, but the way you painted it makes me want to get one. I love the staff....how did you do paint it? It looks great ESE. | |

| I think you are a very close contender for my favourite DE army on here. Really subtle conversions and kit bashes add so much more to an army than all out converting and you have proven that with your work. I'm stealing loads of your ideas by the way! | |

| That talos is cool I almost want to paint mine, but I'm too busy on other models. Soem day i'll eventually paint my Coven models ><.
It's true about that farseer, quality is very high, it's sweet to see you paint eldar too, I'll need to get this one too, to add to my huge collection of eldar seers, I just never stop getting stuff and there's no such thing as too much or too many :p
I do admit I find the staff a bit boring, some more color would do the trick and just a personal choice: I can't stand not doing freehand on those seer robes, also need to paint something on the front and back of my warlocks & farseers.
