Checking for a pulse! 2k list idea

Hello fellow Archons. So to cut a long story short I last played Drukhari when Corpsethief Claw was still a legal formation (RIP 5xTalos unit) and aesthetically as well as play style I love my Kabal/Coven lists. I’ve been lurking a while and drawn up a quick list based off what I’ve seen and what I would like to take.
Feel free to pull the list apart as it was thrown together in about 5 minutes, but I’m mainly looking for guidance as well as explanation to how the combo’s work ie Writ of the Living Muse as I’ve spent the past couple of years playing Age of Sigmar with my Stormcast.

It's a strong list, only changes I'd make is giving the VR missiles and making them Black Heart too. Also remember to use the alliance of Agony strat to give your haemonculus Diabolical Soothesayer (1cp to get d3 CP back with free rerolls on your haemy) and buy the Vexator mask for him to force enemies who charge you to fight last. Writ of the muse is just an aura; keep your ravagers within the aura they get reroll 1s to wound.

I like the list a lot. The only thing you lack is scoring units. Warriors just aren't great for that.

One thing to consider is turning that haemonculus detachment into a battalion. If you dropped 2 talos and the blasters from the Archons, you could get 3 units of 5 wracks with an electro-whip, and Urien Rakarth. He'd power up those talos and PoF wracks are great objective squatters.

Second this I'm a big fan of Wracks, they're so good I've had to stop using them against my friends

I like the list a lot, it's very similar to a list I'm trying later this week:

3x2 Talos with Haywire Blasters, Scalpels and Flails

I think the overall idea of the list is to present a lot of high priority threats and play aggressively to saturate the opponent's decision-making process.

I’ve actually reviewed the list myself just now and realized a major error... I had no transport for my Archons! Thanks to you Hydranixx I can see an obvious answer and a money saver to boot, swap out 2 Venoms for 2 Raiders! In fact most of my changes have brought me to a list that’s pretty much the exact same so let me know how your games go.
In answer to your suggestion, Sekac, about taking Wracks, tbh I’m not a fan of the models is the simple answer and I don’t wanna spend more money when I’ve already got the warriors.

Fair enough, just a suggestion. As you expand your collection, they're something to keep in mind. Wracks are very easy to convert up too. Use those extra talos bits to kitbash anything mutated looking. I've got a squad of warhammer fantasy crypt ghouls for one of my wrack squads, for instance.

I have played a game using proxy Wracks though and can agree, they are tough bits to crack!
Main thing at the moment though is cost (money) effectiveness. Trying to save but want a 40k army to get playing with and it’s between Drukhari, which I own models for, or Tau which I don’t own. Granted my personal play style suits Tau and their bunker down and shoot but I don’t own any models barring Shadowsun and Aun’va.

I adjusted the list slightly, dropping one Talos to make Gangbusters secondary a little less appealing and Marked For Death secondary harder to auto achieve if they just focus hard on the Talos:

My game was against double Daemon battalions with 52 Plaguebearers, 30 Pink Horrors, 15 Bloodletters, 3 Nurgling Bases, 10 Brimstone Horrors, Khorne Skullcleaver Daemon Prince, two Nurgle characters, Changecaster, and the new Slaanesh mirror, and a Thousand Sons Supreme Command with two Daemon Princes and Ahriman.

I went 2nd, and it was a pretty close game, but I managed to come away with a 5 point win.


The list still gives up Big Game Hunter really easily, but that's a given with Dark Eldar. Because it only awards 3 points for Gangbusters, and Marked For Death needs to be specifically chosen for specific units which I can then play around by hiding them well, I'm ok with this. I'm going to tinker with it a little bit as I'd like a 2nd or 3rd Venom in there, or some Scourges with Haywire Blasters.

Thanks for the update. Been workin on my list a little more. One of my old gaming group is looking at getting back in to 40k too but starting 1k so trying to write a 2k list using 1k as a basis. Making my head hurt a little lol

So with the spare points I was thinking initially of taking an airwing with 2x Razorwings and a Voidraven but I don't feel confident in being able to use them effectively so I'm now torn between adding some Mandrakes, Incubi and a Raider to the battalion, making the second Archon more "combat" and dropping him in with Screaming Jets with the Incubi to hack up part of the enemy and the Mandrakes pop out the shadows to assassinate. Or adding some Wych cult, most likely a whole bunch of bikes.
I know the list is VERY short on scoring units but my idea would be to just use the warriors in venoms to secure any objectives while the rest of the army does the heavy lifting.
