I have to say, I really like an aura buff on the succubus. They are gladiators; performers who’s job/art/craft is inspiring an audience. If anything should be an inspiring presence, for the drukhari, seeing them up close is probably it.
Command abilities and activated abilities, instead of auras, sound like a really good fit/mechanic for Archons and Haemies, though!

Of course both of these should come with points hikes. Always felt weird that our ancient leaders of a near-perfect alien race barely cost more than a bloody imp guard company commander. Cause you know... those two are clearly on the same level right?
Very agree. Archons and Succubi should be very dangerous in close combat (they should at least have more attacks than a space marine commander)

That is one thing that I believe might happen in the new Codex. The Webway Gate model came out a few years ago and was quickly forgotten as being worse than useless, remember it? I doubt that GW sold very many of them.
It's at least possible that our new codex might have rules for the Webway Gate that don't suck, if only because it's still there!

I don't think anyone used that Webway Gate for anything other than just a terrain piece. I was really disappointed when I read the rules for it. :/

Please no.
I don't want to have to buy a stupid terrain piece to make DE functional.

It also doesn't look very dark eldar. It has a wraithbone/craftworld look. Would not buy it even if it was good.

It's also a little silly if, before we can conduct any raids, we first have to send an advance party of construction workers to erect buildings roughly the size of the Eiffel Tower.

Only thing I can think of, is that you use it as an objective that you need to protect to keep it out of the hands of the enemy. Would be a shame if Space Marines got access to a portal right into the Dark City. But that's stretching it pretty damn far.
No, I'm pretty sure I'll never buy this gate, even though I also have some Craftworld models...

Well, maybe you're right, but whatever you're hoping to get in the new codex I would temper my expectations way, way down. It's not that I wouldn't love to get all those things, but I just don't think we're gonna.
And if I'm wrong, then great! I'll be pleasantly surprised!

I was thinking, what if Power From Pain would work like Combat Doctrines? As previously mentioned, the current usefulness of PfP is very limited. But what if you could just choose an ability you want for each round?
- Battle Frenzy: You can charge after advancing. - Bloodthirst: +1 to all attacks in close combat. - Unyielding Arrogance: Your units can fall back and still shoot or charge. - Relentless Predators: Your units have a 6+ FnP and add +1 to charge and advance moves.

The issue I had with PfP was less that it was underwhelming, and more that most of the time, and certainly in 9th, games dont go on that long. Whether its us, or another faction, battle reports keep rolling in about tabling or being tabled on turn 3 (which is often unrelated to who wins). And the game is set up for, what, turns 5 and 6 being totally optional? Whats the point of a 6 turn tracking ability then? If that stuff is important, put it before the end so people can enjoy it. If its not important, why is it there?

Turn 5 is not optional and is one of the most important turns now after the changes to turn and when 2nd player scored points end game, and there is only 5 turns now.

And I don't know what battle reports you are watching, but if it is normal that one side is tabled on round 3 I would suggest more terrain.

I'm pretty excited for the new codex myself and really like what has been previewed/leaked so far like 4+ armor kabalites. Kabalites even look like they are wearing plate armor so it makes sense for them to have a decent save. I personally hope they change combat drugs somehow for wych cults to make it less of a chore to keep track of. Maybe if the drugs change to an optional fight phase buff similar to the necron plasmacyte. For reference, the plasmacyte can give +1 attack and +1 strength to destroyers nearby in the charge or fight phase. Was thinking wyches could get something similar with their table but instead of the +2" movement drug you get a bonus to the charge roll. But the downside would be you might lose models to the drugs like on a roll of 1.
Also on the topic of the we way portal, I think it just needs to be a point where strategic reserves can come in as if it is your table edge like the monolith. That way if it dies the units can still come in from any table edge instead of just being destroyed if the portal is gone.

I really like that idea Sess. It's simple and if the portal is costed right would make for a very fun option to throw in our force. Allow the portal to be set up anywhere on the table 9" away from your opponents deployment zone and for the purposes of tactical reserves it counts as your table edge. I think I'd use that.

Oh yeah, much as I'd like to see some of the suggestions in this thread (not to mention the latest Wishlisting one) come to life, I remain highly doubtful that anything meaningful will change. Far from a "ground-up rework", I think all GW will do is change the wallpaper.
Frankly, the fact that the codex is still getting 0 new models speaks volumes about how little effort GW is putting into this release and how little interest anyone in the studio has for DE in general.

I agree. I’m trying to think of armies that haven’t had at least a new HQ unit.
Necrons got a ton of them. Space Marines a billion. Nids haven’t had anything but they have a wide range already. Orks got the new vehicles. IG haven’t had much. Sisters...everything. Tau haven’t had much recently. Chaos have had stuff. GSC have had loads. Eldar...not as much as they should or need. Dark Eldar...Draz new model. Nothing new at all.
What’s worse is, we have some pretty easy targets like the Archons Court where they could get rid of a finecast model, add a new model and in the process make the unit different. Kill 3 birds with one stone.

T'au got "The Eight", named characters without any model and one character from Blackstone Fortress. The imperial guard got 3 new datasheets from Blackstone Fortress, at least. Wasn't there also a female named commisar?
I think since the beginning of 8th edition the factions that did not get any new datasheet are just three, Harlequins, Tyranids and Drukhari.

Nids and IG in early 7th got a HUGE update. I would put GK's over them, they are the only other army that hasn't really gotten anything (they got 1 HQ) in over 10+ yrs.

Interesting...GW gave us the 20th of March for a pre-order date on our Codex... there must be absolutely nothing in it if they are previewing the warzone before anything in our Codex...

My game group think I'm being negative when I say there's nothing except Lelith coming for us in new models. They all play imperial factions and so think getting new stuff is a regular thing, the Ultramarines player was complaining that he hasn't got a new 9th ed supp yet with the new UM character in it. I dont think GW planned a big hoo-ha for us, it was supposed to be a quick and snappy release with only the codex. Then just move onto the new big flashy thing, Sisters, Ad mech, chaos etc and brush the no new Drukhari under the carpet

Look at the sunday preview from February 28th, it was similar, just an AoS campaign book instead and only a fluff article later. They just fill weeks without a preorder this way. Does not mean it will be earlier, but still bad timing they could have filled the day with a regimental standard instead of teasing the expansion to our codex even before we could preorder. Feals even more like a day one DLC.
