3D goes to Caledonian Uprising ... 1850pts tourney

Hi there,

Just wondered if there were any other Dark City Dwellers heading to Maelstrom Games in two weeks for Caledonian Uprising? I'm part of ETC Team Scotland 40K and its our Tourney to raise awareness and funds for our campaign.

Hi Pete,

this is pretty similiar to the list I was running last year. I liked using it a lot, but the one thing that constantly frustrated me was it's inability to crack open armour.

I'd be thinking about dropping the Helliarch, 2 wracks and the heamies Hexrifle to get 2 more blaster born in there.
The way I see it the Helliarch doesn't really bring much to the list, the baron covers the PGL and Ld, and if 1 kill from the agoniser is going to swing a combat then they probably shouldn't be there anyway.
I am guessing that the wracks are there for the PT and transport, I used a unit of 3 for this purpose and also for holding an objective. Get them out of sight and go to ground, 3 or 5 wracks threaten nobody and those 20 points can be used elsewhere.
The hexrifle is IMO a bit of a long shot, too many rolls with limited opportunities to be in a tournament list. All these points will get you 2 more blasterborn, which I think will help you a lot more. I'd maybe even think about shaving points from the wyches to try and get a 3rd and a transport, but thats changing the list a bit much.

Hi Kenny .... thanks for your good wishes and advice. I read your tactica on Hellions and I completely understastand your point about the Helliarch. I would just like the option to split off the Baron, late game ... if they are still alive to help with contesting objectives. I also haven't time to build and paint more blaster born. I have 19 Darklight weapons and feel this is just enough .... just!!

I've played 4 games with this list ... all against GK and won all four. So I'm starting to think all my luck has been used up lol Still coming to grips with using such a large blob of Hellions and the pain token shennanigans but so far ... its worked. The bad thing so far is that in that 4 games, the Baron has had only one save to make, in cc and he rolled a 1.

The Hexrifle is purely something for the Haemie babysitting the wracks to do, during the game. i doubt it will do anything of note but I like the threat level he has ... as he might just do something lol.

As usual I have left it too late to change my list wholesale but will give it a go. First game has already been drawn and from what I've heard ... I'm up against Necrons, gulp!!

Yeah we should arrange a meet sometime too, a home and away set of matches, perhaps??

Necrons eh!. If he's got that stormlord dude, I'd go 2nd and full reserve. Also watch out for the tesla gun that arcs over and causes extra damage, it's a pain in the rear.

Ive a game lined up but yeah, ok ... I'm game, its always good to play kin agains kin. I did lose the last game I played against Dark Eldar, so in the words of Chuck Norris ... 'Bring it!! '

Well I made it back after my trip to the Maelstrom ... had a cracking weekend as it happens and met some fantastic gamers ... oh and Vect Will you tell them Jamie or will I? I have to say a big thank you too, as it really made a difference to my Hellions that I understood they moved 12'' and didn't charge 12'' like my Beasts ... that I was used too How did I manage to get that wrong lol

I managed to win 4 out of 6 games, Playing Necrons, GK's, Chaos, SW's, Deathwing and Orks. I managed really well to dodge all the harsh Gk's and Necron lists that populated the top tables. I had many memorable moments but I guess the best was a unit of Wyches clobbering TWO Necron lords (one was the Traveller) in CC, well running them down to be exact. The look on my opponents face was priceless. He fluffed combat, rolled 11 and 12 for each Lord leadership ...
The other moment, was 6 Deathwing Termies succumbing to an ap1 Liquifier Template .. the Poor guy rolled 6 ones ... Awesome weekend.
It was good to catch up with Vect, saw Shadow Warriors army but never the owner ....

yea it was a great game and funny im surprised no1 picked up on it lol well i ended up with 3 wins and 3 losses

playing gey knights space wolves dark eldar dark angels gey knights agen!!! and blood angels in that order they were all great games

i played pete it was really close bloody beastmasters ran off after failing combat

i played shadow warrior it was a gd game well done for not using all the same units as every1 else

Does the idea of a possible Dark Eldar only tournament sound reasonable to some people? It'd either be really fun or a bit of a bore.

Well done at the Caledonian, anyone going to the GT in March?

I think if it was perhaps 3 games max. it would be good for a one-off. Would all depend on how much variation was in the armies.
