| Ok, bit of a variety update for you all today, as I said last time I've been struggling to decide what to do next, so I've got WIP shots of my razorwing and reaver for you. I'd appreciate some help with the reaver scheme, anyone with tips for painting dried blood stains on bladevanes? And I'd like to make the yellow really stand out, I'm thinking a final very fine highlight of pure white, what do you reckon? [img] [/img] [img] [/img] [img] [/img] [img] [/img] [img] [/img] I am planning on adding highlights to the rear of the reaver, just haven't got round to it yet. | |

| Update for the Archon's challenge, base for my razorwing: [img] [/img] picture hosting and three options for my sslyth skin patterning [img] [/img] [img] [/img] [img] [/img] I'm inclined towards the third, since I've used yellow, green and blue on my kabal and cult armour but i'm also a bit concerned it may look too 'busy' so the first image would be my second choice, what do you think? | |

| I would go with the third, mainly because of your white bases. Given that the tail is touching the ground, the greyish tone may get lost on the base. | |

| I'm really liking the individual canopy designs on the Reavers, wish I could manage something that intricate. Also the Razorwing's base now puts my Ravagers to the shame, I was so proud...Really though looks great, I was planning something similar for my RW so its great to see one done so well.
As for the Sslyth colour scheme, I agree with ESE to try the third one as the blue/grey of the first may not stand out enough. That said if you think it may be too busy, maybe trying the patterning of the first with colours taken from the third?

| i warmed to your army as soon as the pics got bigger. looking goood. can we have some larger flicks of the chars on the first page? for the jetfighter you could paint sections ala the detail where the different parts of the surface join. i wasnt gonna type that at first, because my first impression was silly. but with a little thought it might work.
oh and what type of snake is the third one? it has BLUE!?! wtf?

| @lonewolf, thanks for that, that blood looks brilliant, so much so I might have to get myself some TCR!
@mot666, the snake is a guatemalan palm viper (apparently). The first of the three is, somewhat brilliantly, a bastard rattlesnake. Love it! The larger pics are hyperlinked after the little ones, afraid I was still learning how to post pictures when I did them, I'd not joined a forum before.

I like this idea too. I might just commandeer it for my own Reavers since the fluff has them being trained by a corrupted Autarch who had trained with the Shining Spears.

| Great looking minis! Some real stand outs are the reavers with lances, the Succubus and the freehand on the vehicles, especially the reavers. | |

| Right, I know it's been a while since I've uploaded any pics, came down with a slight case of getting married, but I'm back on track now, got a razorwing update for the archon's challenge. [img] [/img] [img] [/img] I'm going to try and get some updates of my reavers online tonight as well | |

| The Razorwing itself looks awesome but that base is killer! I love how the dark gray contrasts with the almost neon-green, I can just imagine a blur of bright green shapes in the dark.
It is seeing painted models like these that makes me eager to start myself!

| Thanks Firdeth, I always get bored doing bases so I tried to really go to town on this one since it's so big - good to know the results are worth it! Got some pics of my reavers last night, still not finished as the riders need a lot more work and some of the bikes just need finishing, but they've been on hold for a month or so. [img] [/img] [img] [/img] [img] [/img] C&C welcome | |

| they look nice man. the reaver with the cobweb is a little cluttered for me, the yellow gets lost in the green highlights. could just be the angle of the pic. | |

| Thanks, it's a little clearer in real life, plus it matches the craftworld version i've got planned when they release the new model (eventually), I'm thinking maybe creating a link between the fluff for them both (my arena champion is already being fleshed out as a former shining spear. | |

| On the other hand I really like the spider web design. Looks really good and could tie in well with CWE. I think it's the little touches like this that really make a great army to me. | |

| Guess they must have snuck up on you using their free assault phase move. They're getting there, I back shelfed them for the archon's challenge part three, hoping that fast attack is part four so I can get them finished, gonna give lonewolf's gore method a go on the bladevanes, hope it works just as well in streaks as it looks on his stuff. | |

| Those bikes look DAMN fine my friend. The gore is truly complementary and adds to terrific paint work. | |

| Looking crisp and I agree with others the gore is just right; good enough to notice but not overdone so it becomes ridiculous. Nice contrast with the green too. | |
