| How to build a Baron Sathonyx, the Speedfreek solution: The Baron (who isn't completely painted yet) is made to look as the artwork in the book, but with a harlequinesque mask to fit my army. The skyboard is made larger by using a Hellion-board but with the wings made larger by raider keel blades and hull blades. His legs, arms and weapon are from regular hellions and just slightly repositioned. The open left hand is from a raider driver. His head is some random dark eldar head or perhaps from a Daemonette, but that isn't really important. The flowing hair is made of the tail of a marauder horseman horse's tail. The cape is from a High Elf Mage on horse, but put on with the inside out. The magic part that pulls the whole conversion together is the torso from one of the Hig Elf Dragon's riders. And there you go. A Baron Sathonyx ready to hit and run you 'till you don't know what hit you... | |

| Wow, just wow that is probably if not difinatly my favorite Baron conversion and paint scheme I have seen. I really like the flowing hair, it makes him look very much like the artwork in the book. | |

| Brilliant stuff! I love the Baron. Is the mask sculpted?
And the chronos is just disturbing! Can't wait to see it done!

| Yes the mask is sculpted, but based on top of a stamped mask from a metal harlequin.
And the Talos is a Talos...

| I am interested as the Baron looks really good. But I would like to ask; what is the body part that you used for the Baron? | |

| And where did you get those amazing cloth things coming out of the back of the Incubi's helmets? And are the torsi from Dark Elf Cold One Knights?
Brilliant stuff, by the way. Truly inspirational!

Brilliant stuff, by the way. Truly inspirational! Two of the flowing textiles are from the arms of an Empire Wizard and two from the High Elf Mage of Island of Blood. The last one is from a High Elf Noble I think. And yes, the torsos are from DE Knights. - Crisis_Vyper wrote:

If you look thirteen posts up on this same page, there is a description, and even links, to the parts.

| Yes, I'm thinking to use the wide streamers from the Eldar Wraithlord, hanging straight back from the two small fins. Also, I fixed the nose and some other minor errors... | |

| Hmmm.
I wonder, if you are thinking about experimenting with the 'black and white" technique where you paint the figure with grey, black and white, then glaze it in color.
The paint on the incubi is very striking and the contrast is brilliant. I saw a tutorial Ana ( Chest of colors) did describing how she does and was thinking of giving it a go on a couple figures to see how I like it.
To me this screams of thinking or planning on going that way with a lot of heavy glazes. Maybe that was not your intent, but its the first thing that came to my mind.
All that aside, I love the contrast and the poses really come to life with the paint on them.
The razorwing is ....AMAZING!!

| Thanks GAR...
Do you have a link or something to that "black and white" tutorial?
Seems a bit stupid to be re-inventing the wheel on every model, as it feels like I'm doing right now...
The Razorwing has gotten itself an initial burst of white spray, to show the detail, but it still looks a bit grainy in the transition between plastic and green stuff, so I'll have to go over it a bit more.

| She is in Poland, but there is an english translation.
Even so it is a little difficult to read but there are a lot of pictures so you get the idea.
Black and white 1
Coloring prt 2
I haven't tried this technique, but I plan to give it a go on a couple of figures I have.

| It looks fantastic. I really, really hope i get the chance to face you at Fanatic in a couple of weeks. Would be wonderfun to see the army on the other side of the playfield.
EDIT
The more i look at this figures i just get upset how beautiful you have made it work out with those colours. But even if this isnt regarding dark eldar, have you shown these guys your "TAU" army? If not, you must. Thats one of the most incredible things i have ever seen being converted.
EDIT No 2
Just so everone now. I will steal this fantastic idea of a Harlequinned razorwing. But in my case it will be a Voidraven bomber.
