| ok, im a bit pooped that fortune cant be used on the reavers...but can our reavers and other dark eldar units make use of the doom spell? and is this combo actually good? reavers + farseer...cause i thought of fortune, then i remembered the FAQ. what other eldar+DE has everyone else found fun to play? and that have worked? or if it didnt why not? and what other "ally" armies work well with DE? | |

| We cannot benefit from both Fortune and Guide. Doom is a power that DE can benefit from, but also all of the rule book powers work.
For me, I've been running a Farseer on Jetbike with 6 Pathfinders. I seem to roll better with 6 dice than 5...one of those weird things I guess.
If you wanted to keep your Farseer cheap, keep to 1 power only. Take Doom and the whole army benefits ie: Doom a Nemesis Dreadknight, and point all your poisoned weapons at it.
I ran Farseer on Jetbike with a big Beast unit recently, awesome protection for the Farseer and with the Baron up front the unit was something like 19 models, so I had to loose 5 models until Ld was taken, at Ld10....down side is that Jetbikes cannot Run, but Beasts movement makes up for it.
My next trial is, as you say, Farseer with Reavers, but using them differently than just for bladevaning. My plan is to run them with the Baron and use their Heat Lances as transport busters then charge the insides type of unit. The lack of invuls in CC means I can't charge everything, but a 5 man MEQ units are perfect.

I have a couple ideas, one untested, one needs more trials. Unfortunately, both would stick out like sore thumbs here, since the Dark Eldar presence is minimal and they emphasize "beating Marines+IG allies" over "not profaning the character of DE." That said I think there's some hysterical Commorraghan dirty tricks one can pull with Grey Knights or the new Chaos Space Marines. Two in particular are rather amusing. Are lists allowed here that are less than a third DE models?

| im guessing so, this post is already in distraction but we could always wait till like a mod tells us something. but really, iv never noticed that GK and DE can team up. im guessing the GK or CSM acts as a beatstick? and DE is primary or the other way?? GK/CSM as primary, and DE as beatstick? | |

| @Agahnim, As long as DE is a part of the list, its fine here. For anything else (like a pure GK army list or a SW/IG hybrid) there is Other Discussion for stuff like that.
As for other allies, I find either daemons are guard seem to be the best choice other than Eldar. Both provide great bonuses to our army (daemons with flying MCs and tough fast units, and Guard with a nice fire base for us) Sadly those are about the only other two allies I would take, but there can be some nasty combos if you work them out (as Agahnim points out, GKs could be decent)

| With allies other than Eldar (only Battle Brothers) scoring units can't score - so bearing that in mind when you ally with other dex's you wanna bring a tarpit/beatstick type combo | |

| Thanks, noted.
I decided to share the long version of my thoughts on 6th edition here: http://www.thedarkcity.net/t4530-the-6e-paradigm-shift-and-fitting-dark-eldar-in
The short version is in 6th mech still works to a degree, but I agree with the notion that 6th's real focus seems to be Marines using IG allies to cover any weaknesses inherent to their codex.
Without being able to score I like just taking a bunch of vehicles or Baron and some Beasts to augment another list, instead of using their own Heavy Support, Fast Attack, or Elites.
When I get games in I borrow friends' extra Marines and I've been playing a Typhus list with DE that I'm enjoying. I want to try running a ridiculous Grey Knights list that involves a Grandmaster using Unyielding Anvil on the Dais of Destruction, now that it's been FAQ'd to affect vehicles.
