| For a while now I have been trying to decide on a colour scheme for my kabal, the Kabal of the Flayed Soul. I have tried various different reds, greens, and blues, none of which I liked. However, I've managed to create a deep, almost midnight blue colour that I'm really happy with and which will now be my kabals colour scheme: The image on the left is with bright light so you can see the detail, the image on the right is a picture taken in ordinary daylight. I made the colour like this: Black undercoat, Drybrush of Caledor Sky base paint, Drybrush of Lothern Blue layer paint, Drybrush of Skink Blue dry paint, Drybrush of 50/50 Skink Blue and Praxeti White dry paint, A very light drybrush of pure Praxeti white, Wash the whole model with Guilliman Blue glaze, Wash the recesses of the armour with Drakenhof Nighshade shade. All the colours used were from the citadel range. | |

| Hmmm, does anyone know why the image isn't working? Sorry I'm new to posting on forums Not sure what you did, you had some horrendous URL in there, so I just re-copied the direct link from Photobucket for you. Cheers, Gob. | |

| I really like that blue color! Wonder what colors you're going do for cloth/eyes/guns to complement?
Im new to this but to me DE vehicles look weird if you dont do the normal edgehighlighting style, will it be black with this blue for the edges or something else?
Please use the English language to the best of your ability. I have cleaned up the chat speak that you have used. Cheers - Cavash.

| I was thinking glowing green eyes, and basic metal weapons with bronze details. I'm going to paint the cloth as either flayed skin or a deep purple colour. I'm not sure yet.
I'm not sure how I'm going to paint the vehicles yet, either. I tried out this colour scheme on a Venom and it doesn't scale up well, so I will have to work out how to apply it to my vehicles.

| They look like blue stone, very cool. The green glowing eyes would look nice as well.
For the vehicles, what sort of issues are you encountering specifically?

| Hey, Mozzy.I am really liking the colour that you've got, it's similar to my own Kabal!
For eyes on blue armour I have found that using a muted yellow on the immediate lenses and then drybrushing very lightly with yello around the eye are on the raised edges just to catch them gives a great glowing effect. For the cloth I would perxonally go for skin to add a contrasting colour in, but purple could be cool, too.
Nice work! | |

Well, this technique seems to work very well on infantry models, due to their small size and lots of detail/raised edges, as it relies a lot on drybrushing. However, on vehicles, due to their large flat areas, it doesnt seem to work as well at all. It looks messy and untidy, as the colours don't blend together as well. - Cavash wrote:

Now that you mention it, I think yellow would look much better than green. I have decided to paint the cloth as skin Please use the edit feature when adding to a previous post rather than double-posting. Please PM me if you need instructions on how to do this. Thanks, your local friendly mod, ESEHere is a WIP shot of one of my Venoms. It looks better than it did before, as Ive given it another coat of Guiliman Blue glaze, which has served to blend the layers together better, and I have painted Nuln Oil shade into the centre of the armour plates which helps give that edge highlight effect. Mozzy, please use the edit function in place of double posting. The edit feature is in the top right corner of the post. I'll let you off with this one as you posted quite close to the last one and might not have had time to see ESE's message, but please do not do it again - Cavash.

| Nice work. I look forward to seeing the warrior finished. If you're having trouble with drybrushing on vehicles, you could try stippling instead using the same colour layers as indicated above. | |

| I also found that drybrushing didn't work very well for me on vehicles and I changed to doing edge highlights. As I'm using a black base for all my vehicles I didn't bother shading and highlighting the black parts and just did purple edging around all the 'plates'. I'm reasonably pleased with the results. | |

| The blue color is nice.
I am not a fan of dry brushing on DE, but that is just me.
That being said, I think the color transitions from light to dark is very good.

Edit - Posting this question reloaded the page and revealed it. Sorry!
- By the way, lovely colour scheme. It has given me some ideas!
