Which Allies to take

So i've been toying with trying a different group of allied contingents besides Eldar, just for kicks and giggles.

My main opponent plays grey knights (he used to play 'nids and then found that against my army he was grossly outmatched).

The armies i was thinking about were Tau or Grey Knights (the thought of making him fight his own troops makes me snicker evilly Twisted Evil

)

But i am open to suggestions.

One thing that confuses me is why necrons dont like (d)eldar? Any necron-fluff-knower here tell me please?
Would have loved to have some of those guys as allies, but going to settle for craftworld eldar. They are our battle brothers, after all Smile

Because the Eldar and the Necrons spend eons fighting each other before humanity crawled out from under a rock? The fluff is out there somewhere: Eldar HATE Necrons, and the other way around.

The eldar were originally created by the Old Ones to fight off the Necrontyr and their C'Tan masters. As such the necrons are our most ancient and hated enemy.

Back to the topic. At the moment I am working on a small warband of Night Lords CSM to ally with my DE.

Just gotta get them all painted and I will post them here on the forum.

The way I look at it is there are mercenary elements of most armies and I'd like to add all of these to my Sky Serpents far down the line:

Orks - Freebootaz, Blood Axes
Tau Empire - Kroot Mercenaries, Farsight Enclaves
Chaos - Daemons (shaa-dom), CSM (I really want to do a heldrake and forgefiend haemonculi counts as)

Would have been lovely to have Imotekh with a Chronometron Cryptek as an ally, giving night fight on turn 1 automatically and continuing in following turns if Imo can roll greater than the current turn number (rerollable due to Chronometron).
