| You would be interested and perhaps even suprised to know that I don't,in fact, get angry whilst playing 40k. At least, not at my opponent! The main reason I would never lose my temper over this game is one that is actually alluded to on almost every other page of the BRB. I refer, of course, to the little boxed-out areas headed 'forging a narrative'. The inclusion of these suggestions gives the clearest indication,if any were needed, that even GW themselves are entirely aware that the rules of the game are much more concerned with the character and 'feel' of the rich tapestry of the dark millennium than with being balanced and uncomplicated. This is the nature of the beast, and, really, always has been since RogueTrader, "Your arms are slimy tentacles, your fingers twisted worms, this is an hallucination, snap out of it!" ,anyone? This was the almost exact wording by way of introduction to one of the effects of hallucigen grenades. Completely irrelevant to any gameplay mechanic, it would have been far simpler to just state the in-game effect of the item and move on. That has never been what GW and especially 40k are about. What a game! | |
