Upgrades for fliers in Death from the skies supplement?

Just watching a video battle report and heard the CSM player say that he had given his Heldrake the "flier ace upgrade from the death from the skies book". He then goes on to say that the Heldrake "got death incarnate", giving it the daemonforge rule usable every turn. Are there army specific tables which you roll on after paying points for the upgrade? I've heard nothing of this! I was wondering if maybe there are possible buffs to my beloved Razorwings that I have been hitherto missing out on? I would be interested to know if this is the case, and also, how many points does it cost for a roll on the table;what are the possible bonuses/special rules? My local club has a copy of the death from the skies book, so don't worry about giving me the info, re. GW getting eggy about it; I can see it for myself next Monday and have access to the book, would just be interested to see what's up with it before then.

We do indeed have tables we can roll for in Death from the skies, but I forewarn you that they are not that great.

Also few people play with the fighter ace rules as they were made for the special "plane on plane" side game you could play. Ours and Eldar are put together becaused they messed up the first edition and forgot us.

Also funny bit, SW got a fighter ace as well... hilariously they cant get any planes outside of FW

Of course, anyone actually running DftS would invariably also be allowing Forgeworld, so it's kind of a null issue there methinks

I even play a lot of Apoc and have seen zero interest in this from anyone who has read it. I'll admit I mostly just read it in Crusade, but it's not like they altered much. I don't think it was exactly a grand slam from GW, even if the rest of the Crusade book was actually pretty solid, and as a stand alone it was a bit of a derpy idea.

I guy I know got the book and just so he stopped whining we let him use it games... It was a major derp for GW lol

In my opinion, the Special Maneuver rules aren't bad for Dark Eldar as it gives us a (very) limited form of Vector Dancer in a way as well as pretty much adds bladevanes to our flyer.

Now the Fighter Ace upgrades, only the one that grants increased mobility is decent in my opinion. The other two are too situational or just meh in my opinion.

I have played with the dog fighting and fighter ace rules and they were meh; however, a couple of my friends have found that allowing the Special Maneuvers can actually provide some nice enhancements to someone simple, static flyers.
