Just wondered if they'd snuck a release out without me knowing. In that case, I'd suggest we should prepare for the swarm when we know anything about the swarm's abilities.

Im pissed because I am a nids player, and a week after I go and buy a ton of Dark Eldar stuff to entertain me for the wait until the new nids codex, a new nids codex is announced >:/

Amuse Me, may I cordially invite you to http://thetyranidhive.proboards.com/, an excellent forum for 'Nids, very similar in attitude and quality to The DarkCity, where discussion of the forthcoming Codex is very prominent. Personally I don't do rumour discussions, so I will buy the codex, THEN follow the threads on The City and The Hive.

It's always seemed to me that DE are a hard counter to anything the Nids have. Nids have always leveraged high toughness as their main strength, which is exactly what splinter is for.

Im happy that Nids are getting their update, sadly I feel that our response will be the same... Poison...
Also unless something completely broken is hidden in that oh so expensive hard back book, I doubt it will change much. Its going to take something really OP to pop Tau/Dar off these tables anytime soon. Look at the SM release and see what little it did...

The battle report in this month's WD doesn't really give much away in terms of the power level of the new 'Nid codex. Mind you, it's possiby the worst written battle report I've ever seen so it doesn't give much away at all!

It feels to me as though the only tricky bit from a DE perspective will be the new flyers (especially if that rumored born in the skies thing turns out to be accurate). If they're half decent then the all flying nidzilla list might become an issue... but still, poison poison poison, and hope for those sixes..

Better yet, take those Razorwings with SPlinter Cannons. Want or not, we have supreme tools to kill any MC, flying or not. Me too have a feeling Nids will want to play Skies. It all now depends how much harpy costs and have flyrant got point reduction.

yeah the crone is rumoured to be T5, so splinter cannons and dissies on a razorwing will work well against them. large blast missiles are good for thinning out the hordes of troops advancing at you too

Now that the codex is actually out, what do we think we're likely to be facing? Well, not Mycetic Spores for a start! Loss of Spores and Doom will hit a lot of Nid players quite hard.
Flyrants seem to be the only viable HQ choice so expect two of them in every list.
Tervigons probably only going to see 1 per army now as the 30 Termagant tax is likely to prevent more than that.
Warriors are going to be rarer than rocking horse doodoo.
Venomthropes will be seen a lot, although through a cloud of dense, toxic gas.
Zoanthropes not sure about. Useful for Synapse but Brotherhood of Psykers seems like a bit of a nerf to them.
Thoughts on tactics? Kill the Synapse! Very few useable Synapse creatures in the new codex. Take them out and watch the remainder eat itself.
Very amusing batrep on Frontline Gaming.

It would seem they've been hit pretty hard, judging from various reactions (particularly from Frontline Gaming). Well, not necessarily hit I suppose, more not brought up to date with this edition perhaps? I was doubtful of how good they could be after reading the White Dwarf battle report, and that now seems justified. They can't make every army that gets released the new "best" one, I know, but at least the ability to compete with the best would be welcomed by nids the community. This makes me worried about what they might do to my beloved orks now, all those rumours about Waaagh points don't seem too far fetched now I've seen someone rolling on instinctive behaviour tables that are unique to each unit...
