| I've always loved the revised Dark Eldar models, especially the high contrast lined armor look. After about five minutes of trying that though, I realized I don't have the finesse to pull it off, especially not on an army wide scale. So, I decided to go in a different direction. These will probably all end up at an acceptable table top quality at best, but thats honestly good enough for me. After ditching any hope of the dark base, bright highlight schemes, I decided I wanted them to have a slightly Persian theme, maybe mountainous desert sort thing. I don't know if thats coming across at all, but so far I like it. Quick note, after browsing here, I saw another army (kabal of the endless labyrinth i think) that was already using this same basic scheme, so kudos and credit to the owner of said army. Just the one pic for now. I only have five troops done so far. | |

| Those are very nice looking models WT. I love the subtle off white, almost chalky aspect to the armour and the maroon is a very nice contrast - Having just reread that sentence and decided it reads as horribly sarcastic allow me to be abundantly clear that there is no sarcasm intended, likewise I wasn't honestly attempting to quote 'American Psycho'.
I think you made a very good choice and that scheme is definitely paying off, had I not sold my soul eons ago to the edge-highlighting god - brushwork talent be damned - I would have been hard pressed not to try something like it.

| Thanks guys. My first thought when you said "chalky" was American Psycho, so its funny that thats what you thought too. I didn't take it as sarcastic at all, i got what you meant, and its something I like too. I know dry brushing is kind of looked down on when its the end effect, not a step in the process, but I've always liked how it looks, especially on minis with layered armor, like DE or tyranids. Finished the other half of the squad last night, so that officially makes this the first squad, in 16 years of gaming, that I've ever completely finished. This is a trend I hope to continue. | |

| They look a treat. White's always struck me as a bit dodgy for DE armour, personally, but I think you've really made it sing. The gold and plum colours are very well distributed, and you've tarnished it to perfection. I can't wait to see more! Any independent characters to look forward to?
EDIT: Super bases, too! Is it cork?

| I know what you mean about white on DE. Sometimes when I look at these guys, I think they look a little too Craftworldy. Hopefully, the more I do, the less like that they'll seem. I do have an Archon and a Haemi in my current planned list, so hopefully I'll get to them at some point. I really want my Archon to have the Malekith horns from the Dark Elves Black Dragon set, but I'm having a hard time tracking a set down now that the bits sites are mostly dunzo. Wanted to show a whole squad pic, and also a PiP of the Haemi/Wrack Raider. I bought it off of ebay already put together and primed, but annoyingly, it said it included all the bits, but was missing a lot, including the disintegrator cannon, which I had planned on using. So if anyone has an extra DC sitting around that they'd like to trade for a DL, i'm your guy. The raider is more than a little influenced by Eye of Errors awesome coven raider. | |

| @Fidra: yeah, its cork. Good eye. I got a set of three 12"x12" tiles of it at Walmart. Got started on my Haemi tonight. He's got a long way to go, and I'm not sure how I feel about the hair (kind of like it, but I also kind of meant for it to be... stringier) but I think he'll be cool when he's done. He's made all from a Raider hanger-on guy, with the left leg from the other hanger-on spliced on. I extended his mid-section to give him more of that weird body shape they seem to have. Made his scissor hand out of styrene strips. I'm planning on giving him a pair of a Talos's vestigial arms, and I think a Eye of Error style stinger pistol... even though I plan on arming him with a liquifier. We don't play strict WYSIWYG, but i dunno... thoughts? | |

Your Haemie is amazing, terrific p-card skills you have. How was the hair done?
Cheers. | |

| Hey thanks Gob. I'm a big fan of your army too. Your Archon especially struck me as awesome.
The hair is just sculpt. Rolled out real thin... noodles, i guess, applied them to the head, and added a little more detail.

| Little tiny bit of work done. Decided to go ahead and stick to WYISWYG on the Haemi, and cobbled together a Liquifier for him. Really, its all just left over parts from the shredder into a blaster conversion that theres a tutorial for on the forum. Seemed to work out ok, though I couldn't get my camera (phone) to focus on the gun instead of the model. I think the gist of it gets across here. Still need to add tubes and stuff to it, but those will come later. | |

| Really like this conversion, the hair especially. I am not too sure about that liquified though. Could you post a frontal pic of the whole model as it is hard to see how well it all fits in together. I don't think it matters about wysiwyg unless you play in tournaments a lot so I always go with what looks cool rather that what is legal. Really like your paint scheme as well with this army. Looking forward to more. | |

| Thanks Spell. As far as WYSIWYG, I don't do a lot of tournaments or anything, I've just always prefered it. Heres that front shot of the Haemi, with a little more detail added elsewhere as well: and my mostly finished Coven raider. Planning on giving it a crew of Wracks, which is whats keeping it from being done at this point. I had a hell of a time with painting the sail, mostly in keeping it from having brush strokes. I think i just need a bigger brush and to thin the paint a bit more for them. Also, does anyone know of a resource for printing decals? They seem a little blank right now. Starting on some new Kabalites today too, so those will be forth coming. | |

| Yes that liquifier dies work now I see it from the front. Very cool. Like your raider as well. I am currently struggling to paint one too for my carnival and can understand the frustration with brush strokes. So many smooth surfaces. In terms of transfers I make my own now and it is really easy. I buy transfer paper from ebay or amazon and find images I like from the internet and then print them out in the decal paper and hey presto you have a cool looking transfer of your own design. Dude below's banner was done using this process | |

| Oh MAN I loooove the sybarite! Total menace. You should give him a little name, make him a special boba fett character and keep track of his kills. Did you repose the legs to make him look more static? I really like it. How did you do it?
The candles are such a simple, effective touch and the green flame was a good call, IMO. I'm anticipating the updates!

| Thanks Fidra. The body is actually one of the Raider crew. Had to adjust the feet because they were angled down. I'm also suspicious that the Raider crew bodies are slightly smaller than the normal Kabalite bodies, because I think the head and arms look a little more disproportionate on him than they do on the normal minis. | |

| I did! I love that picture, so I wanted to try to include such an image in my army. Got home super late tonight to be greeted by some new bitz in the mail, so I finally got to continue work on my Haemi, which had me excited. Just a little more sculpting on him now, and I can start painting. Also got the pieces in to work on my small squad of HWG Wyches. I've never been a fan of the whole gladiatorial look, so I wanted to go in a different direction with them. I like the Scourge back tubes on them, planning to paint them like they're the vials through which they administer their combat drugs. I have some WHFB Dark Rider heads on the way for them (the masked, non-helmeted ones), and am planning on painting them black, so they match the Coven parts of my army instead of the Kabal parts. ALSO, got a pack of Incubi. They're my first experience with finecast, and they have me hoping the rumors about finecast going the way of the poodle (futurama joke) are true. I never thought i'd say i'd rather work with the old metal models, but jesus. | |

| The guy on his hand looks absolutely fantastic. I think the scourge kit is the best by far myself and have used them to make my inucbi out of in conjunction with dark elf corsair cloaks, but you've done a masterly job on them compared to mine. Bravo! | |

| Got some more stuff put together after getting more bits in, including the heads for my Wyches, and all the stuff i needed for my Blasterborn and Splinterborn. Also, found something to do with my extra Incubus: my Archon! I was looking forward to using the actual Archon model, but this'll save me some money, and i was able to lock down a WHFB Dark Elf lord head, the one with the horns that look like Malekith, so that'll work out well once i get that in. Bonus that the Incubus head and back trophies can now be used for the gunner on their Venom. A note, I am worried that I've jumped the gun in my excitement to put these guys together, since I usually paint before assembly, but oh well. Hopefully they'll turn out ok. | |

| Those look very nice! I love the dynamic poses on the Wyches there. I'll briefly say I loathe scenic bases (I know it's an odd one, but does Lilith carry that big rock around the battlefield with her?!) but that aside these guys look very nice. | |

| Awesome as always, the Wyches are beautifully dynamic and your Trueborn certainly look "elite". It's not just your basic conversions, it's the little touches you add as well, like the blades, that really help make them standout.
MOAR please! | |

| Those Trueborn make me long for the old edition's Warriors. I love them! The helmets work well and I am particularly fond of the one with the Splinter Pistol and punch dagger; it's so reminiscent of the old models.
Very nice work. | |

| Thanks guys.
@Cavash: thats what i was going for on them, especially with the one with the punch dagger and splinter pistol. I loved the old warrior kit when it first came out, so i thought it'd be fun to try to visually reference them without actually using any of the old pieces. I was a little hesitant to use those Black Guard heads once i got them though, because i realized they look VERY much like how I imagine Vect to look, and if i ever wanted to do a model of him, i'd definitely want to use one of those heads.
