| Hey Guys I am new to Dark Eldar I am a long time Lurker of the site looking at all your beautiful paint jobs. I was wondering if some of you could help me. I am just starting a Kabal force Led by and Archon I am thinking of arming him with HB, SF, CCD, PGL, ST and a Blaster. I am going to have him escorted by 4x Incubi in a venom. Now here is where my question come in where do I go from here? I will be facing space wolves (Wolf Force), CSM, and Orks the most I can field anything other then wracks, haemi, grotesques, or a talos. Are waves of kabalites viable? 10x incubi in a raider? Lol I am so lost as there are so many awesome things I want to play with. So any help is appreciated! | |

| Well, you are going to need more than just the incubi, so if you want a kabal themed force, go with warriors in raiders. In 1500, maybe 2-5 of them with splinter cannons, depending what else you have. Kabalite Trueborn in venoms can make for great support to the killing, you could have a squad or two of three trueborn with weapons of your choice. Wyches in raiders or venoms are also a good addition and still fluffy. Ravagers, at least one, is a must. If you don't want a talos, maybe 2 or 3 ravagers and/or a razorwing. Reavers are nice. Lots of troops are always good, so I would focus on the kabalites first. EDIT: 10x incubi is a bit of overkill, avoid! Two squads of 4 or 5, however, could be something... your call if you want more assaults in your games. | |

| Hi Darkstar, welcome.
I also run a Kabalite force - that's no Wyches and technically it should mean no Haemonculi either, HOWEVER there is a way around it. All you have to do is theme things in your modeling so they match your Kabalites. For example, I run Reaver Jetbikes (sometimes A LOT of them), and all of mine are ridden by Kabalite Warriors. I sometimes use Haemonculi too, but again I've modeled them as Kabalite Warrior Torturers. My Scourge are Kabalites with wings, my Beastmasters again are Kabalites on boards. There's nothing to stop you using the useful parts of the army but still keep it looking Kabalite.
Of course if you're dead set against the idea, several Warriors on Raiders with splinter racks can be quite good for laying down serious firepower (very good vs. Hordes and Tyrnaids especially).

| I ran the following list at the World Of Battle tournament this past weekend with great success. The Venom's really held there own (20 poison shots) and adding in the Raiders with Kabs in them that 20 shots in rapid fire range really hurt. I usually try to control the middle of the field, Keep my transports in ruins (that 4+ Cover Saves are nice), Try to get my opponent to shoot at the venoms instead of the raiders so late in the game I can boost over to objectives to score quick points. Our first match (the Relic) (it was a doubles tourny I will allied with Tau) was against marines (imp allies) and orks (they brought a stompa). Our main strategy was neutralize one and just slow down the second guy. We crushed their ork assault and I even got my wyches to assault the stompa (Orky player was not happy when he attempted to attack with his D melee weapon only for me to say I have a Clone field your 1 attack misses he did stomp 4 of them to death though). 11 haywires attacks later the stompa was down to 4 or 5 hull points and on the run. I think only 5 orks were alive by turn 3. 4-2 win
Our second match was against Tau/Guard with a Baneblade. We concentrated fire on the objectives (big Guns Never Tire 3 objects they had 2) We just avoided the baneblade popped the other tanks for kill points and came out on top 11-2 in that battle.
Both instances my Dark Eldar claimed first blood (we went second on both matches though the Tau player also popped a tank on first turn my dice were just faster than his) My Kabs on a raider tabled a unit of guard allies in the first match and I popped a Lemun russ tank with a ravenger. Was a fun tourny. But do not discount the wyches (even just 1 unit) they ran the stompa off (he teleported it away after the wyches beat his butt)

| Kabal force eh?
At 1500 you'll want at least 4 troop choices, but kabalites are great.
Standard: 5xWarriors w/ blaster in venom Or 10xkabalites in raider w/ upgrades to taste.
From there just use the two elite slots for trueborns in venoms (our best elite choice) with either double splinter cannons or blasters
Fill up your heavy support with ravagers.
The only real fast attack fluffy units are scourges or hellions, but honestly if you want a competetive build I'd just add more kabalites.
In any case any of those units will pretty much take on all comers. If you're not taking wyches though make sure you pack a good amount of dark light weapons.

| No love for reavers? I often use them to take out 5 man squads. That 48 inch move is very nice. It also depends on the terrain though. I often plan with very heavy ruins (2+ pieces per 2x2) and can hide them well in terrain after a jump. Mainly its a psychological effect. To have a unit in your opponents deployment zone often causes them to change their plan and gives me a chance to take out an exposed unit that tries to go after the reavers. But I'm only 5 or 6 games in with my DEs so still learning. | |

| Reavers are fine, they're just not part of a Kabal. Not sure what exactly the OP was asking so I kept it Kabal only. But Kabals will surely use covens and cults to their nefarious purposes.
Reavers have lost a little of their edge with all the ignore cover weapons coming out of the woodworks, but they're still a good unit.

| I understand that. Only way I keep them alive is completely conceal them in terrain so they can't be targeted. I have played Space Wolves on and off for the last 20 years but really find Dark Eldar so much fun. It's not auto pilot. You will crash. You will burn. But I love the idea of scaring my opponent off the board. My hellions picked up an ethereal tau and started to fly away with her. My opponent was like "HOLY CRAP" you can do that. "Yes, Yes I can. muahahahaha." was awesome. | |

| The best way to keep reavers alive outside of cover is give your opponent something scarier to shoot at. For my list this normally means the Dais and my two monkey warband squad are soaking up a lot of fire. | |
