I suggest polling your audience to make sure...just beware if any of them are also in the contest Wise counsel. Sadly, I've yet to attract any comments on either story - but there's still a few weeks to go.

"Pride Goeth"
Alternate Title: "Sweet Little Thing," but this way seems fancier.
At first I just followed the writing prompt as a fun exercise, but then I said to myself, "Armchair, you wrote it anyway, may as well send it in!" Forgive my prior lurkishness.
Good luck all the other entrants!

| And, just for the record, we re down to about 3 weeks now for the final submission of your entries. Basically this is about the halfway point of the competition. | |

| Remember when I said we were down to three weeks a week ago?
We're down to two weeks now. We're past the halfway point, and we're at the stage where you might find yourself getting a bit tight on time if you, like me, suffer semi-regular writer's block.
Just a friendly reminder to get those stories in. I am a martinet when it comes to deadlines.

There were. I know there's at least two that have been promised to me that I'm hoping show up.

Good catch! I am a stickler for that. I'll admit, I actually refuse to read any entries until after the competition is over (just a personal desire to do my judging within a short period of time so that hopefully I'm assessing them in the same way) The big rule is, naturally, the word count. Other than that, I'd advise you to do a spell check and grammar check on it, as that can and will affect your score. Also, if your use of the theme word is really interpretive, I'd suggest maybe sneaking in an explanation in the comments on your story, just to make sure the judges 'get' it. Other than that the only rule is to have fun.

Ah, we can put comments? Thanks! That's actually really useful to know, I was pondering if we could. Not to explain the use of the keyword, actually, but a character side note. Still interrogating my possible entry to see if it passes muster.

| Malys, for every day that you don't post that story, I'm going to make a guinea pig curry. | |

| Oh wait...at first when you said 'make a guinea pig curry' I thought you meant 'serve curry to a guinea pig,' not 'make curry out of a guinea pig.' For some reason, and I know this is bizarre, I find the first idea much more sadistic than the second.
What kind of person does that make me? (An awful one, probably...)
Back on topic though: Thor, are you the sole judge?

| So long as there is no guinea pig / curry interface, I am satisfied. | |

| Now I can't think of anything but how curried guinea pig might taste...I bet it's so good...
Will the judges read our entries anonymously, or will they know who wrote the story as they read it?
