| Because the entries have been such a joy to read, I thought I'd give it a try.

The judges will know who wrote which story, the judges are among us even now... It is also nice to see the last minute entries starting to appear. I do believe at this stage we have exceeded Year 1 as far as number of entries! I'll also note that there are only 4 days remaining to get your stories in the competition.

| Down to 670 words. Sigh, more procrastination. Some rather daunting entries so far.

| My entry, submitted for your approval my fellow Archons. Some stiff competition this year, I have enjoyed the stories I have read thus far. May you enjoy my offering as well.

| I think the only one I know I should prod is Gobby. If there is anyone else out there who is thinking of doing a story, or has one thaat you need to do finishing touches on, consider this a prod for you too. You can always mention your name and I'll do a specific prod of you tomorrow Like I'm doing for Gobs today. Because he needs to chop out about 160 some words...which is pretty daunting, really. Use contractions? Maybe you should use more contractions Two days till deadline. Functionally deadline is less than 48 hours away from this point. | |

| Eliminating vestigial adverbs is another good way to pare down a story for a word limit.
Just read Malys's story earlier. Cried a little bit.

| A post, and an entry!
http://www.thedarkcity.net/t9472-butterflies-and-bunnies-2nd-annual-fiction-competition#101379
Oom, 500 words is a nice little challenge; spent half of it with as brief an intro as I could manage but I think I got across what I was going for in the end. Had to spend a while cutting back of course. And I've been reading some of the other entries, and it's great that people here know how to use words.
And ATMidnight style bonus 'points' to anyone who knows what the vague reference of the title refers to.

| Two more entries sliding in under the wire!
We are at the 12 hour mark.
So if you're a procrastinator, you're probably in the sweet spot right now.

| I did make two very small edits. I mean how big could they be at a 500 word limit right?

Nag, nag, nag. Well, I finally posted my entry, but I think it's too late. Apologies Thor. I had some teenage parenting issues to deal (which Vect himself would shrink from) and just couldn't finish it when I wanted to. "That's OK, I kept thinking, I have until 12 noon on Sunday to get it in." Now I see it was 12 AM, not PM. Oh well, c'est la guerre.I'm not totally happy with it, but I would still appreciate any feedback that might be offered.

| I can probably ask the judges to do a review of it just with the understanding it can't place - we did the same last year for whoever it was that wrote the little mini trilogy. Also; The Competition Deadline has been reached! All Entries now in are final, any changes will result in disqualification from winning a prize.I should get up the Reader's Choice Polls in a little while. But let's take a moment to consider our entries; The Pride of Chogoris Orb of Despair Dolmadaen's End The Fall of Thandrom The Usurper On loathsome wings Despair The Locket Datura of the Cult of Lechery The Cordwainer "Pride Goeth" "The Burning Sensation" Trial and Error Legacy Proud Angel Professional Ethic (Pride in one's work) BUTTERFLIES AND BUNNIES That is 16 (17 with Gob's late one that isn't on this list) entries, so we exceeded last year's total by almost a third again, AWESOME WORK GUYS! When do I get to find out if I won!?! - I'm going to put up the Reader's Choice Awards sometime this evening (I really just need to make sure I do a word count on each entry to make sure it's legal length prior to including it in the poll), and the judges will also get info on our conversation topic so we can plot on all of you in secret The Judges will probably get at least a week or two to read and debate the stories. I'll probably set the deadline as 2 weeks for our reading and judging (which means, even a slow judge, ought to be able to get by with assessing 1-2 stories per evening and still basically be able to do his job), and put the polls at the same deadline. So you should know how you placed by the 22nd of this month. Wait, where is my story, it's not on the list! - If you believe you correctly submitted an entry and don't see it on the above list, than one of two things happened. Either I missed it when scanning this thread, or you didn't post a link in this thread. In either case let me know. If the error was that I missed the link, then I'll apologize and get you into the judging. If the error is that you didn't post a link here but your story entry was posted within the deadline I'll give you a grace period of until the Reader's Choice Polls go up to get your link posted here - after that I'm afraid you'll be ineligible for judging. Anyone who is aware of a story I missed may post the link also, so if you know of an author I missed and want to make sure they're counted, please post a link for them. We did have one fellow miss out last year due to this so I'd prefer not to have that happen this year. Regards, Thor.

| I think mine got skipped over. The Pride of Chogoris. I panicked for a second thinking I hadn't linked it, but I found it on page 3.
I panicked for a second thinking it was over the word count and got DQ'ed, but my word counter reads it at 499.

| Nope, that was just me missing you (I also haven't done word count yet). Edited to list you as well, thanks for pointing out the oversight! | |
