The Monthly Vow, May 2014 - the green tide looms on the horizon

The Taurox lives, denizens, it must be purged with dark light immediately.  Although I think that simple opaque light might be enough to deal with this one:



Another rust-loving race, Orks, are fast approaching, and one of our fellow Commorraghans has hinted that the new 6.5/7.0 ruleset might give a little love back to the hack and slash set.

So, with all that in mind, what are you going to paint during the month of May? Make a vow and tell us what you hope to achieve.  If successful, your fame will spread to the far corners of the galaxy as your name is highlighted in TDC's specially-trademarked Commorraghan purple!

Fail and, ...... well, ....... the Talos may be slow but he always catches his prey in the end.

I Vow, This month I will paint Wyches/BloodBrides (the BloodVestal modesl from Raging Heroes), Grotesques, and Wracks. Wish me luck.

For May,
World Eaters:
-Paint 3 Scimitar Jetbikes
-1 Tactical legionnaire that I somehow forgot
-Contemptor Mortis Dread
-5 Devastators with Auto Cannons

Dark Eldar:
-paint 2 wreck markers
-3 Dakkaborn

CWE:
-Assemble and prime something with a lot of hull points..... [EDIT] Not happening!

-Assemble and prime a Legion Typhon Siege Tank instead!  

If time: assemble  my Dark Eldar Raven!

This month I'm being productive with one Autarch, one Avatar of Khaine, one unit of Guardians and an old 3rd ed Archon.

Despite having 3 armies on the go (DE, CWE and Tau) I might treat myself this month and paint up the Be'Lakor model I found lurking in one of my many boxes of unpainted stuff. He is actually usable with the Tau and DE if I really want to go for something a little different in the allies slot plus he's a fantastic model!

If I get time, I might add some other stuff in later.

Seriously considering amending my vow as I spent last night drilling, pinning and gluing my (metal) Be'Lakor model only to discover that, for some unknown reason, the head and pointy arm simply will not stick. Tried 3 different types of superglue and they just won't stay in place! Will try again tonight but if they won't stick I'm going to change my vow, especially as my lovely Forge World Tau Tetras arrived at the weekend and are begging to be painted up.

Jetbikes and 1 forgotten Tactical Legionnaire done(the guy on the left)!


Can't find the flying stems....know they're around here somewhere?     

I have 100 Necron Warriors to paint for my new Dark Harvest army and I vow to get at least 60 done this month, plus 10 Lychguard.

Paint my World Eater lord on juggernaut. Just waiting on Army Painter products arriving now! I would post pics except it seems to go wrong every time. If I work out how... pics to follow!

At the very least, I think I'll attempt to finish the Venoms, at some point, I'll have to focus on them to finish them. (even if it's without their second splinter cannon gunner)

BTW I'm keeping all the 21 pilots, gunners and passengers in a box till I finish all these :p, I'm keeping them for last, clean, dust free, primed, in a box.

I think I'll actually need about 3-4 months to finish all these...

Might crank out the Dakkaborn this week before finishing up the World Eater Legion heavy Support squad. Looks like that Raven may get assembled this month after all!

I think I put his legs on at a weird angle as I couldn't fit his chainmail loincloth on properly so I had to replace it with a green stuff 'flesh' loincloth.

Loving the blue skin tones Count!

The flesh loincloth also looks fantastic.

Thank you. I originally started him off as grey but it looked too bland so I changed to blue and I'm quite happy with the result.

It has a certain incorporeal shifting look about it, very fitting indeed.

Dakkaborn are on schedule to be completed this week, but assembling the Eldar Superheavy is NOT happening. Won't go into it, but if drop kicking a model because you can't figure out what to do with it was justifiable....

I'll have to replace that part of the vow with assembling/priming a Typhon Siege tank. Less hull points, wrong army; but I can do it without wanting to harm an expensive model...

Having finished Be'Lakor somewhat earlier than expected I have been able to add something extra to my Vow for the month - a Tau Buff Commander. Working on him now and will hopefully get him done by the end of the month.

I feel like it's cheating, but over on EldarResplendent I made a vow to complete my squad of Inccubi for May... and well, here they are. From WIP to finish in one post:

Just not happening, no way, no how. I have a tournament at the end of June that they are supposed to be ready for, so I guess I will be carrying over my vow
