The cool thing is if a player doesn't necessarily like some aspect of the fluff they are free to completely ignore it. So feel free to play DE however you'd like. Don't like beasts from a storyline perspective don't play them in your games. You can make the DE whatever you'd like. Just don't be wishing the Baron away! I kind of like Hellions, their fluff and imagery. Anything that helps get them on the table is good in my books.

| Oh I looove Hellions, but they need something else than Baron IMHO. :-) And I fully understand how good HQ Baron is and what he can do for us, but I hate what he does for Eldar. I really dont want to be "the ally race". I would rather see him rest in peace and have a generic succubus on a skyboard. :-) | |

Hellions simply need the jink rule. Fixed.

| I haven't seen a new sleigh for my ride in the Santa Raid yet!
Just checked the online stores for UK, US, Canada and Australia, and not surprisingly the current Wracks and Haemonculus have been removed from sale.
AND, so has the Succubus! I wonder what that implies, simple transfer into plastic or melding into some other kit? Or just out of stock, although I am not sure if they remove items for that?
That is a new model from the last release, and a very nice one too! I sincerely hope it comes out in plastic.

I've got to admit, I wouldn't cry too hard if the Baron was deleted from the new codex. It's exceptionally rare to see him actually leading a group of Hellions, but pretty normal too see him giving hit and run silliness to Eldar Jetseer Councils or Beaststar packs. I had a lot of fun making a conversion for him and would hate to not be able to use the model as anything but a glorified Hellion, but I also wouldn't mind not seeing him used simply for the pure gaming mechanics advantage that he gives other units.

Not that I'd expect GW to actually remedy anything, but what if Baron could only join DE units? Or Hellions if joining beasts seems OP or out of sorts from a fluff/game mechanic standpoint? I just think it's odd that DE players would want to see a DE character removed because of abuse rather than just shrug their shoulders and carry on using the model as they saw fit. My opinion is whack the OP combos not the units themselves. I'm not a tourney player (actually not much of a player period since the end of 6th) so it's not as if I've seen a dozen CE players fielding a lone Hellion model claiming it as the Baron. Anyhow I'd be surprised if GW drops anything due to balance issues. Dropping something because another company makes the model before they do is an entirely different subject.

As with all such issues though, if you don't like a particular unit or combo then don't use it. There's no need to remove the option from the book. This has nothing whatsoever to do with fluff or game balance. It's purely a result of the Chapterhouse lawsuit. I've never known a company seek to actively punish its own customers in the way that GW does. No wonder sales and profits are consistently on a downward trend!

| I dont care if the Baron is removed or not. I have properly used him for 200+ games, both for Eldar and Dark Eldar, Hellions and Beasts.
But even tho Hit'n'Run make or break beasts I dont want us to loose the only dude we got with it, tbh, that is something that we should have on more stuff. Anyway, even tho the baron is nice loosing him wont really ruin a beaststar.
Personally I''ll just take Baharroth or Irritrhil or whatever the name of the FW dude is. Also just take an Archon for the Granades.
I like special characthers so I would be sad to loose them. But I imagine they might bring him or others that we loose back in the future with Supplements and dataslates.

Until such time as the codex is confirmed, which, despite the title of the thread, has yet to happen, we're all just speculating so it does no harm to wile away the days discussing likely/possible changes.

That's actually a somewhat worrying point. It's still possible that we're about to get two weeks worth of model releases and no actual book.

Well, how often does GW produce a video trailer for a line that they aren't planning to update with a book of some kind?

| I don't doubt that we will be getting a new codex. I just think that the title of this thread was somewhat premature as the codex is not confirmed and won't be until (presumably) we start seeing leaked images from next weeks WD, which will probably be Monday or Tuesday of next week, nearly two weeks after this topic was posted. | |

| So? It makes me generally VERY excited... I am refreshing this forum every 5 minutes... reading through wishlisting, comparing to my fandex and realizing that I wrote it to compare to Eldar in pwr level, which is wrong IMHO, etc... in short - its fun and really eye opening. It also makes many ppl think and rethink opinions and builds and stuff, which is interesting. And it makes this forum much more alive, which is great! :-) | |

This, I have the feeling this forum now notices every little detail of info that we're getting about Dark Eldar rumours
