Indeed. I'm loving those old+new conversions. Makes me think I should do some as well. Nobility. Thanks for that hint idea!

Couldn't agree more, Calyptra. I am always casting around for conversion ideas, but that one completely escaped me. Looks fantastic, Sky, and I will DEFINITELY be looting it. Nicely done!

| Some lovely stuff on show here, as to be expected from the on-line equivalent of Vect himself.
Have to add my voice to that of the others, the dragonfly wings are a stroke of genius, I have been looking for different wing types myself. I wont pinch your idea though, some ideas are so unique it would be sacrilege to steal them!
I really like the individualism you have brought to each of your squads with the fine use of bits. I love the scheme and look forward to seeing this log progress.
Cheers

| @Evil_Space_Elves, 'twas my exact thought when going through my DE bits box. @Crazy_Irish, the best thing about reading and contributing to a project log is inspiring others. @Calyptra, I had struggled for a while to work out what to arm my third Scourge squad with, I'm really happy with the result. @Gobsmakked, loot away! @The_Yak, I'd prefer to be the online equivalent of Duke. Thank you for the compliments, I do like to bring individualism to the army but that's what has always held me back with painting. ~ So if you hadn't noticed, I've been away. The army has been performing well, well enough that I haven't felt the need to change it constantly. I went to Caledonian Uprising, a 180 man strong event in the UK at the beginning of the year and placed 43rd, a result I am more than happy with. I have been painting here and there, nothing is that finished but I have a few teases and treats for you.... First up is just a WIP on the Trueborn, decided to go with an ice blue for the hair in the army after this test. And secondly I have some photos of my Sslyth! These are near enough finished now, just missing a few details here and there and need tidying. Photos aren't amazing but I think you should get the picture. Comments and critique are welcome. | |

| Wow super jealous. The paint jobs on those Sslyth are gorgeous... and the modelling is so top notch. Also where's Thor? He'd love that 3rd ed kitbash on the True Born. Great looking stuff. I still think a lot of those helmets hold up. So glad to see you're still working on these guys Sky.
BTW have you ever seen Phil Kelly's Dark Eldar? They are in the Crusade of Fire (which he won) and painted in the exact same scheme... I think Sliscus is his guy too.

| They look great. I really like all the different skin tones and poses you have done. It really helps what is a static mono pose model come to life and give a great variety to the unit. SC | |

| @Cavalier, thank you for the kind words on the Sslyth. I've been enjoying using them in games but starting to feel that three units of Warriors in Venoms might do their job just as well... And of course I have seen Kelly's Sky Serpents . I spent ages trying to work out a colour scheme that I liked and felt suited them and finally ended up with this one. Mine is inspired by Kelly's as I thought the guy who reinvigorated the Dark Eldar, invented Duke Sliscus and painted his own army based on them was the closest thing to a canon colour scheme for them. @spellcheck2001, thanks a lot SC, coming from you that is a great compliment. ~ So it has been a while. A sight that should warm even Mushkilla's cold heart. I've been running 3x 6 Reavers in every game and fallen in love with them. To differentiate the squads I have used a different helmet type. One squad uses the traditional Reaver helm, the next uses the Wych helmet/mask and the final squad are bare head. This is a squad close to completion but still has some way to go. I tried to go for a neon green but instead of looking different and loud, it just clashes too much so this will be going. And finally, I'm sure you don't need two guesses to work out what this is going to be... | |

| @Lord_Alino, well it was like two months hobby budget plus they weren't all bought at full RRP ~ So yes it is obviously going to become a Corpsethief Claw. I have gone down this route in an attempt to stay competitive with the harder lists out there, I am taking these into a D and super heavy rich meta however so it remains to be seen how well they will do. I have tried to convert each Talos so they at least look a little different and interesting. | |

| @benth3bear: Cheers man, I used the Corpsethief for the first time in a tournament last weekend. Went ok, going to take a while to learn to use it to its full potential. ~ So having this Corpsethief Claw meant I needed to texture a few more bases so I did enough to cover an entire army. They were quite easy to do, just sand and then a mix of different foliage from various companies, slate and reeds made from a cheap brush. And. This is probably the first model I have finished in almost five years for my Dark Eldar, I felt a strange mix of elation and confusion... | |

| @zizza1400, thank you for your appreciative comment, this army has been a long time coming. @Cavalier, cheers Cav. I think that is one of the themes I will be looking at as Sliscus's troops would be die hard followers that have been through many realspace raids. @The Shredder, he is one of Menghil's Manflayers, an old Dark Elf regiment of reknown. ~ So something is still wrong and I am painting most nights.... I think my next update is a close to finished Corpsethief claw. They've moved on a bit more since these photos as they now have poison vials and gore stretched across them which I hope to show you in a future update. Oh and what the heck, a quick army shot. Colours are a bit saturated but it is nice to show you guys what I am working towards as a force, I'll look to get more unit photos up soon. Sky. | |

| They are looking really good, and your whole force together is fantastic. I am a serious fan of the orange colour scheme.
Been using the corpse thief claw formation in a few games now and it is really scary for a lot of people to have to deal with. It dishes out a surprising amount of firepower and the extra vp's in combat is just gravy

- It sure has been a while since I have updated the project log and as it's the new year I have some updates for you. First though I'd like to tackle the previous name of the project log which I was going to change back to it's original name 'Sliscus Lives' anyway.
Gay For Sliscus is a term that I have used for a while and is an amalgamation, birthed from several origins. I first heard the term used by the band Gay for Johnny Depp and have heard it used for a number of years but never thought it was used in a derogatory manner; we all know my passion for Sliscus (which is obviously non-erotic) and I saw it expressed by our very own Thor665 (whom I am placing no blame on this term's offence to others) which I then subsequently stole for my rank.
By using that name I never sought to alienate, offend or upset anyone. It has been interesting to hear this discussion played out and I would like to keep the discussion open until it is finished and then remove the posts so as not to derail the thread. So please, if you have further replies on the topic then please let me know.
~ @aurynn, this was a very simple task. I didn't bend the bodies at all, the positioning of their body on the base and change of head created the illusion for this.
@clively, let me know when you start yours.
@Gobsmakked, well we knew they were going to be popular.
@beerskunk, ha, I'll lead them away again I'm sure.
@Panic_Puppet, I plan to do a Sslyth Queen in the future and I think a cobra hood might be good for that. Accent colour will be a slate grey for the guns and some neon colours for hair and tubes.
@Lord_Alino, they're all fancy!
@Dragontree, thanks! Think I explained the Sslyth paint idea though.
@Mr_Pink, it's going to be fun to paint.
~ So do you know what's hot right now? Scourges!
I started with two units and liked them so much I added a third, thanks to Panic_Puppet's secret santa gift. I've tried to differentiate them from each other by giving each squad their own identity through wing choice.
First squad has Heat Lances and bat wings which I will be painting in various shades of browns and greys.
Haywire Blasters are now in vogue with a feathered squad. I'm going to use real life birds for the wing colours, from eagles to maybe even a fun parrot one. Suggestions are always welcome.
And last but not least, this unit favours the humble Haywire Blaster too but I have used the small Plague Drone wings to get a dragonfly look. These will be painted in purples and turquoises with a hint of metallics. I also went with an old Raider pilot head for the Solarite.
Final treat(?) is a very WIP Duke Sliscus.
Thanks for viewing guys and gals, as always I appreciate comments and feedback.
Sky. These pictures on scourges look amazing!

| In a wee update to this thread, the April edition of White Dwarf features a four-page spread on our very own Sky Serpent's army, Duke Sliscus' Sky Serpents, along with an interview with Sky, a.k.a. Paulie Wallis. Congratulations, Sky! In addition to this thread, you can view Sky's original project log here. | |

| I am absolutely drooling for the Duke Sliscus model. The entire army is the best kind of hobby inspiration. Congratulations on the White Dwarf interview. Ugh, this makes me want to create an entirely new Dark Eldar army but I just couldn't justify it given the number of models I already have. | |
