| So, I am looking to protect my army the best I can since I will be taking it to and from NJ every now and then and boxes just scare me. My other friends say just use shoe boxes with some tissue paper etc... but they all have armies that tend to not have as many dangly and spikey bits as we do.
I have roughly 3500 points, with 4x raiders, 3x ravagers, reaper, void raven, razorwing, 3 talos, 3 venoms, and a myriad of troops/elites.
I magnetized the entire army so that the sails, guns, skimmer stands etc all pop off easily to prevent some damage.
What size and which battlefoam would people suggest? The air line? The xl? I'd like to have everything in one case.

Magnetizing the sails will definitely help, probably should be able to squeeze it in if you can get all the infantry into one tray. Does Battlefoam offer Raiders trays that are shorter? If not they should definitely be able to customize it for you for a small fee.

| I too am currently researching into this for my DE as I'm sick of shoe box tissue paper and Chinese takeaway containers lol.
You'll be hard pushed to fit your entire army in a single bag. I even struggled with getting 1850 (theoretically) into a case. My army is also all fully magnetised so no need for deep trays. I contacted Battlefoam and they said they will custom cut the depth of the precut trays so you could get a 5 Raider tray at only 3.5 or 4inches deep....which makes room for more trays in the bag....
KR is cheaper than Battlefoam but I'm just not sure about their sizing chart/comparison. I'm sure if you email them they could help you with your requirements
And then there is pluck foam...which is cheaper again but I'm not sure about how to find a case/bag for non KR pluck foam. Just gotta do the research or pay the money....good luck and would love to hear how you get on

| Hmm. Okay cool thanks for the tips. I have even thought about using pluck foam I have laying around with the abundance of pelican cases I have. Could be an option... only issue is the thickness is too much and I'd waste a lot of space unless I try to cut them which will inevitably be uneven | |

| Im playing around on the KR website and there is an Auto Fill option so you could punch in what you intend to pack/carry and see what options come up - then look for the pick and pluck versions perhaps | |

| Great timing! With the Black Friday deals up I'm looking into buying a Battlefoam bag myself. The PACK Air is down by 60%, every other bag by 25%, so it's a great deal all around. I've been poring over the custom tray creator and have come up with a way of fitting 5 Venoms, 5 boats, 5 Taloi, my converted Dark Artisan, 2-3 Razorwings, a Voidraven, 9 Reavers, 10 Scourges and loads of infantry into a 720 and a Plus. I could go with a 1520XL, but I'm really not sure if it isn't just too damn large. Here in Hamburg, Germany, I mostly travel by bike and public transportation, so lugging that behemoth to my friends' places all the time could be a bit bothersome. The PACK Air could be a nice middle ground, especially now where it retails for £50 (!), but it's only available in army-green and without all the Molle stuff... What are your experiences with the bags, travel-wise? My original idea, by the way, was to have my current army in the 720 and everything else in stacker boxes, but I can't come up with a smart way to distribute all the units on small trays for maximum flexibility... | |

| I magnetized everything plus I made some transport stands of wooden sitcks and use this thing here: very convenient for tournaments and storage, but kind of not so handy if you have to walk with it. Not ideal, but imo better than the feldherr foam I used to have:

Yes, it is a standard plastic container with some metal sheets glued into it and a belt around. Still totally worth the money.

| Nothing is wrong with feldherr, and used a messenger bag for three years and was able to transport 2000 pts in one single bag. I like the design with the red inlay and all, I just dislike foam. There is always foam that sticks to the model. I still have ordinary warriors with foam on the head spike that does not go off. Foam trays are more a space marine thing I guess. No spikes no problems. | |

| But how do to cover the inside of the bag if not foam? What soft material do you use?
The foam is sticking to your model? Where do you live? In a very hot area? That never happened to me.

What he means is that minis get stuck in the foam because spikes/blades/... tend to penetrate the foam and have to be removed carefully resulting in either ripping off the spikes or having tiny pieces of foam still sticking somewhere on the serrated blades, fishing hooks,... Happens quite often

| Ah. Okay. Thanks. But how to eliminate that? Hard material isn't protecting the model... | |

| As carondyr describeds, thx!
The box still uses foam for compartments and the sides, but this is not an issue as the models stand upright, free and don't move.
