| hey guys im fairly new to Deldar and at my local shop we are gonna be running a Combat Patrol Tournament. Rules will be at the end of the post. I have a decent amount of Deldar units and was kinda wondering your ideas about a good list to run. Im told the mission is going to be very objective based and that tableing the opposing army wont be an auto win but rather worth a medium amount of points. Also ill add that im going to be playing agaisnt a whole slew of different armies, such as Tau, Marines, Blood angels, Chaos Marines, tyrannids, possibly eldar and orks. Any help is much appreciated.
• Armies must be built with up to 400 points (minimum 375).
• Armies may only use use one Battle-Forged Detachment or Formation.
Alternatively, you may use the following Detachment:
• Compulsory: Either 1 Troop or 1 Elite.
• Optional: 1 HQ, 2 Troop, 1 Elite, 1 Fast Attack, 1 Heavy, 1 Lord of War, 1 Fortification
• Restrictions: All units must have the same Faction or no Faction.
• Warlord and Command Benefits: If you have no HQ you may choose from among your Sargeants or equivalent, or if not any unit may be your Warlord. Your Warlord may reroll their Warlord Trait, but must keep the second result. Also, your Troops have the ObjectiveSecured Special Rule.
• Composite Detachments (Detachments made of other detachments), such as the Necron Decurion, are not allowed for this event.
• Please bring 4 printed copies of your list.
General Unit Restrictions:
• Unique units, Imperial Knights, Fliers, Flying Monstrous creatures, Data Slates, Fortifications, and Lords of War will not be allowed at this event.
• Forge World is not allowed
•You will use the same army list for the entire competition
• The most recent version of a rule released within 1 month of the event must be used.
• All units must be WYSIWYG - What You See is What You Get. Flamers are not Meltaguns.
• Units must be painted to tabletop standard. Unpainted Models are not usable
Combat Patrol Special Rules: • Weapons with D profile are not allowed
• All Psykers may only attempt to manifest ONE Warp Charge psychic powers. When rolling for psychic powers re-roll all results that would require 2 warp charge.
• Units (except for Troops and Units with the swarm USR) which have more than 2 Wounds instead have 2 Wounds.
• Units which have more than 3 Hull Points instead have 3 Hull Points
• Units which have an Armor Value greater than 12 on a side instead have an Armor Value of 12 on that side.
• Troops which are not Infantry and Troops with a 2+ Armor Save are limited to 1 unit per army.Dedicated Transports are not included in this limitation.

| Yes Combat Patrol is really fun and DE actually is really good! I would take 2 Troops, 5mans with Venom+ SC and a Blaster x2 A Unit of 3 Reavers (no upgrades) having a unit that can moves 36+ inches each turn can be very strong, at low points you might have people keeping a small unit in back, they can go hunt them out. A Ravager, this is the tricky part Lances are good for Armor breaking, but I personally would do Dis Cannons, 9 S5 ap2 shots are REALLY strong at 400pts, if you go 1st and there is a Unit of Devastators or Tau Suits etc.. you will 100% just kill that unit off completely | |

| Firstly, I see this is your first post. Welcome to the Dark City! If you're up for it, there's a specific thread subsection for introducing yourself, You can find it here
As for the tournament, the two things that strikes me is that there doesn't appear to be any vehicle restrictions that hamper Dark Eldar, and that you don't have to buy any troops if you don't want to.
You could go with a venom spam build consisting of 2 units of Kabalite Warriors and 3 Venoms with dual splinter cannons total (1 as an empty Fast Attack), with exactly 45 points free. If objectives are as important as the tournament describes them, you can choose to completely ignore anti tank and just play around killing infantry and taking objectives.
The Dissie Ravager that the above poster mentions is really powerful too, and there's almost no unit that it can't handle at such a small points limit. I'm a big advocate for this build of Ravager under 500 points.
You could also show up with a big Grotesque or Court of the Archon unit to smash everything. Grab a handful of Grotesques or Sslyth (with a Lhamean and maybe 1 Medusa), give them a Raider with night shields and you're good to go. You will still have enough points to get some ranged support with Scourges, or a Ravager, and maybe an empty Venom as well.
You'd need to have all the models for that build though, so I should ask what models do you have?

| thanks for the quick replies guys! @amishprn86 this list seems solid thanks for the info, and im kinda pumped to be doing the combat patrol. @hydranixx hey yeah first post yay lol. Ive been kinda creeping the forums since i started playing a few years back. i play with guys like Fritz and brother captain james if you know them. i currently have; 20 warriors with splinters, 10 blaster born, 5 venoms, 3 ravagers, 1 raider, 10 wyches, 10 scourges, 6 reavers, 2 archons, 1 succubus, 2 maedusa, 4 so i found em finally, i have 3 sslyth, and i think thats it off the top of my head. | |

Sounds good, there's plenty you can do with that variety of models. It really depends if you want to play a list that you find really fun and fluffy - maybe a small Wych cult raiding party with Reavers and Wyches - or something designed purely to take advantage of the tournament's restrictions and unique format and perform really well. I would suggest some of your Sslyth in almost any format of list you create - a spare 25 points for a single Sslyth in what would otherwise be an empty Venom is a good investment, and importantly, will make that Venom HQ rather than FA ( so you can have another one in FA . For example: - Quote :
- HQ - Court of the Archon (2 Sslyth and 1 Lhamaen) in a Venom.
Troop - 5 stock Kabalites in a Venom. Troop - 5 stock Kabalites in a Venom. FA - Empty Venom. Assuming each Venom is rocking dual cannons, which is of course the best way to play them. You can trade out one Slyth and the Lhamean for a pair of Blasters if you're nervous about having no anti tank at all. It's not a very balanced list, I just came up with it purely based on the fact that objectives are going to be very relevant in this tournament, so ignoring enemy vehicles to focus entirely on anti infantry and mobility could be a legitimate strategy.

| You can venom cheese with 0 AT. But most players will have at least 1 or even 2 rhinos, 35pts for a Av vehicle is WAY to good in Combat Patrol.
You really need at least some AT. A blaster or 2 and/or a Ravager is really good at this.

| So as an update the tournament was yesterday. I went with two troops of five man venoms but there wasn't enough points for 2 blasters b.c. of feeling I needed the Lance ravager so I only could go with 1. I had 3 vanilla reavers and a 3x lanced ravager. I ended up taking first place. Overall I had a lot of fun. First round I played against tau, second round blood angels, and round 3 I played eldar. | |

| GRZ! Ive always had more luck with DE in Combat patrol other than 5th Nids, and Only used DE from 6/7 editions due to how good they are. | |

| Congratulations, Amisprn86. Looks like it would have been a fun time, I want to do something similar in my own area.
So you played three games, how long were they and how many turns did you get in, roughly?

| Game rounds were on a 50 minute timer and I made it to turn 5 all three games. | |
