| Got this little bit of info from someone in the know: - Quote :
- I have seen an advanced copy of the supplement, and can confirm what it has for Dark Eldar: not much. Both Eldar and Dark Eldar each get their own flyer-only formation. The Eldar one is decent, the Dark Eldar one not so much. However, the book will also include a generic flyer detachment that can be used by any faction, and that one seems like it will be more useful to the DE.
Not a lot of specifics, but this is pretty much on par with what we expected. Benefits might come with overall changes to how flyers work in the game which in my opinion has been the problem with flyers from the word go.

| Voidraven no longer has skyfire. Only fighters get that now. There goes what little AA we ever actually had! | |

Nobody but it was still our best AA option. Now that honour belongs to the Razorwing which inflicts less than 1HP each turn against another flyer, even if the target has no save.

I've now got a bad feeling that Fighters will have Skyfire, but not the option to not use it... making the Razorwing either a useless fighter (still) or killing it's ground attack capacity Dammit I was so hopeful this would fix some issues too!

Dammit I was so hopeful this would fix some issues too! The Razorwing will probably be classified as an 'attack fighter', in keeping with the fluff, which will allow it to keep its ground attack capacity. edit: Crap, both bombers AND attack fighters lose skyfire.

| HAHAHA. So much for that model. At least there are lots of good uses for the FA slot to replace the Razorwing... | |

| I know, we just lost both of our Fliers. I have 2 Razorwings and 1 Bomber sitting at home. Looks like the Dust Bunnies will be flying them around when I am not home. Sucks too I was looking forward to a 3 Razorwing Squadron formation. | |

The bit about Voidravens losing Skyfire is. Razorwings losing it is not 100% confirmed but looks pretty likely.

| Confirmed, They are splitting the Aircraft into 3 Categories. Fighters, Attack Fighters, Bombers. Fighters are the only ones the keep Skyfire. Attack Fighters and Bombers loose it.
Unconfirmed, we don't know where the razorwing will be classified. The way its decked out tells me that it would go to an Attack Fighters, which means it looses skyfire as well.

| Thing is, flyers have never *really* been much of a problem. You either ignore or outmaneuver most flyers anyway. If the bonuses that Attack Fighters and Bombers get vs. ground targets are substantial, then it might make them worth it. Also, if they make dedicated fighters worse vs. ground targets, then players may be less inclined to include them in lists anyway. | |

| They Look Pretty. Just Kidding... I don't know the answer to that. All fliers will get 2 new characteristics. Pursuit and Agility. You can see most everything here. Screen shots of the white dwarf. Doesn't say a whole lot. http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2016/04/40k-death-from-the-skies-latest.html | |

Rumor has it there is something getting IGNORE cover. But I haven't seen anything that actually says that. The white dwarf does say:
"There is no use taking Cover, they will find you"

One thing to keep in mind is that WD has lied before (or at least, the actual rules have turned out to be different from what was reported in WD). Remember when wracks were supposed to get power mauls?

The WD that came out prior to the 7th edition codex specifically stated that wracks could take power mauls. After all, they're on some of the models. Then the codex came out, and... no power mauls.

| On the bright side, from the stuff I've seen, Crimson Hunters appear to be stuck in the fighter category, so should be less of a threat to ground based stuff, though I suppose skimmers may still be a viable target for them unless they're going to amend that somehow.
I think the reference to ignoring cover seem to be from flyer formations, the 'intolerance' attack pattern noted on this page, though that would appear to require 3 flyers, and I can't see anyone investing in 3 voidravens just to get ignores cover!

| I'd imagine the Razorwing gets called a Fighter (it's right there in the name!), which could be unfortunate since it's actually much better at ground attack. Hopefully there are some boosts available for Fighters picking on other flyer types. Since dogfighting appears to happen off table, it might be possible to use blast missiles with just a straight BS roll. (Lol necrotoxin...) There might also be ways to get shots on rear AV, especially if we have high pursuit/agility scores, possibly even some interaction with Jink. If so the Razor might juuuuust be ok | |

| Interesting, would this mean that if the hemlock wraithfighter is classified as a fighter it wont be able to shoot ground targets at all? It seems like a weird mechanic seeing as flyers can use templates and templates can not be snap fired. Can blasts even use skyfire?
Hmm I was literally about to put together my hemlock tonight, debating keeping it in the packaging in case I need to get rid of it lol.

| The hemlock will likely be classified as an attack plane instead of a fighter. They're not going to invalidate half their flyers. | |
