Sorry but, 7 out of approximately 30 is no where close to ALMOST every faction (plus hexxenwyrd even missed some: Imperial knights, Adeptus Custodes, Renegade Knights (though I do admit that last one is a stretch to call a "faction"). So you're up to about 1 in 3 that don't have psychers. That's not even close to MOST factions, let alone almost every faction. But this is digressing from the thread a bit. Helm of Spite is the best "anti-psychic" defense we've had from at least 5th edition onwards (I started playing DE in 5th, so can't speak to editions prior to that). While we had it in prior editions, and it was useful then, it wouldn't have caused perils. at that point. I'm far from saying this is the be all and end all. But as far as relics go, it is up there in overall competitiveness against any psychic heavy army. (It is almost a must take against TS, GK and Nids due to the volume of psychers they will be using against you) That said, not sure if it outweighs the vexator mask (which obviously only matters if your force includes coven). I generally have started with the writ of the living muse so far, but like some others note above I'm toying with whether to drop that to get one of the others[/quote]

| Alright, I’ll bow to you collective wisdom and give it a shot tomorrow. Will leave the writ at home instead.
So, would you say there’s a HQ more suited to bearing it? I’d say an Archon what with the 2++, but probably not the warlord as he’ll already be a target.

| Just a tip: bring the helm with Treasures of Dark City, don't pick it as your first relic! In some games it will be useless. I love to spend 1 CP just for adapt to my opponent. | |

In general, I've placed it on one of my archons and had him deployed defensively to protect him. the 24" range is pretty decent. The alternative is putting it on one of the HQ options that you're planning to "smash face" with. In this case it has more to do with what unit that HQ is running with than anything. I think a raider with wyches/grots/wracks plus the succubus or Haemonculus being your smash face unit, I would add your "extra" archon tagging along with the Helm. He's not critical to the combat, so can sit back a bit, but will provide that psychic buff to the unit.

Can you have two relics on the same char?

Can you have two relics on the same char? No. I presume he meant on two separate Archons.

| well I'll just throw my two cents in here. I just finished with a local tourney against a smite spam 1ksons list at the end, and my helm of spite saved my life and did some meaningful damage. I only dispelled two powers...but did 3 wounds to Ahriman, and 2 to a demon prince...which was enough to finish them off with other things... and I wasnt even aggressively positioning my Archon.
Worth it! | |

| I've been using this relic in the last 3games I've played. And while not always useful (sometimes the character it is on just isn't near their psycher) when it works it works well. Gives that "vect says no" type ability in the psychic phase to one ability and forces the opponent to think about their casting order. And the look on their face when you stop a power AND deal mortal wounds is fantastic.
It almost does more damage than some of the other relics, let alone screwing with their plans. And the mortal wounds make you feel good about burning a cp to reroll one of the die if you only just fail.
Almost an auto include. Just not sure who to put it on to ensure it is always on the board and in a good position
