Its official.
3 important points mentioned in the preview:
- Incubi are all WS 2 and their weapons 2 damage flat (finally) - They said ALL weapons and stats are upgraded for all units (whatever that means) - Army construction changed in some form, they mentioned you can build a raid force now with an Archon as your leader and units from all subfactions freely in there so lets see

This is a wonderful surprise. My main opponent plays Necrons so being able to get right into 9th edition games with the proper books for both armies is great for us.

Great news ineed.
I was a bit confused at the cover: was the character a wych or a kabalite? She had the knives of the wyches but she seemed to be wearing kabalite armor.

Same here, maybe a hint at some new units? Maybe the return of trueborn? Overall I am very pleased with the changes we now of yet.

I just hope it is not supposed to be Lelith. She looks alittle too heavy armored. Right now she is the only character that can wield two knives. But I am really interested in how they want to change raiding party.

WS2+, S3+2, D2 (4 on a 6 to bless) Now our Incubi are real Elite unit.
Perhaps the character from cover is perhaps a lhamaean? But I hope is a new melee unit for Kabals.
And I'm very happy if I can play again a mixed army.

true missed that !! with Drazhar near them they can now wound T8 on a 4 plus. With the new damage 2 they can pretty much take on anything now ^_^
Really hopping the cover character is not Lelith, suddenly realizing she is strong and independent and doesnt need to look feminine anymore, although i have a fear she might be...

And we got some old aeldari face shenanigans back on the armour

I wonder what they will do to venoms.
I think it isn't about us being ugly but rather showing that we are aliens. We don't stick to human standards. Craftworld sissy will probably look alien too.

I suspect that at least some Eldar units (of all types) will get the ability to modify opponent BS/WS, in order to get around the -1/+1 to hit cap. This seems reinforced by the wording of the Deathwatch anti-Aeldari strat, which specific states that it ignores to hit modifiers AND BS/WS modifiers. Really, this is probably going to be the only way to make certain units viable (like craftworld rangers, for example).

If you look closely at the cover art at the bottom by where it says codex you can see in the background what looks like an archon holding some kind of cube (crucible?). Doesn't look like any model I have seen in the latest range but more similar to the old 5th edition finecast archon. Here's hoping we get more cool HQ models/rules with the new codex.

Ho i'm already so happy with the little that as been revealed! Our Incubi are now real beasts and can'T wait to see the army building formula we will have! Our free CP formations seem to have received an uplift that i'm very thrilled to see! So far, gotta say that the direction that 9th edition is taking seems really promising!
As i live in a lockdown area until 2021 for sure, i have absolutely no game in sight until probably the release, this will make the waiting a little bit less frustrating
also, anyone have an idea what kind of rules their could be in the Charadon book?

I think we are all quite hyped now.
Just before anyone may hope too much about a new army structure, he never said in the preview that you could mix subfactions without losing anything, he said mixing "without losing lots of your army bonuses". So there may be still a downside to this new raiding force.

I still think we'll be hamstrung in some way when it comes to list building. Maybe something like you don't lose your obsession in a mixed detachment as long as the detachment includes an HQ with that obsession.

I just think we aren't 18+ anymore....that seems a normal Wych with an armour.
Anyway: -Incubi are dopes now! Love that they keep 1W, we should be fast, fragile and hitting like trucks. Then disappear; -Nothing says that every weapon will change; -Nothing says that you will be able to mix units "in the same detatchment". Only that bringing more det will be cheaper (or cost 0?) than before.
I'm happy that we don't need to wait too much for that

I would be fine with that, as I have been wanting to make some Coven-themed beasts and feel they would be a great cheap screen. It's that darn Beastmaster who screws everything up.

What if...we will lose the Obsessions as we know? They can be just Obsessions that's affect all the Drukhari Kin. Think about Necrons: every Dynasty has 3 different rules that buffs. Try to think something like:
BLACK HEARTH -<KABAL> units have... -<WYCHCULT> units have... -<COVEN> units have...
OBSIDIAN ROSES -ecc.. -ecc.. -ecc..
If you think about BG, only the big Kabals rules the Raids. An Archon call the Raid: he choose his coven if he want to, he will hire some low commorragh criminals (Hellions, Reavers?) and some Arena guys (Wyches, Beastmasters) and then they will go. Other Archons (Detatchments) can join as well, with their own followers..
Yes, sometimes a big name do it alone (Urien Rakhart) but I can't really see Lelith Hesperax or Drazhar moving a Raid for himself...they're both sent from an Archon.
It sounds interesting..
Or, another way, a rule for the Raiding Force like:
-If you run 3 Coven Patrols, you have... -If you run 3 Kabal Patrols, you have... -If you run 3 Wychcult Patrols, you have... -If you rune 1-1-1, you have...

I think it will be similar but just simplified. I expect, you still need to build a Kabal with an Archon+ Warriors or a Cult with a Succubus + Wyches and you pick the Kabal/ Cult for each (Black Heart or Red Grief) but by including both in a detachment you don't lose your obsession bonus.
Also, I don't think.we will be getting any near as many new models as crons or space marines.

That's what I'm afraid as well. I really loved the way obsessions worked and it gave us an easy way to pick the best obsessions for the appropriate units. It surely wasn't a perfect system, but it wasn't as bad as many people made it out to be.

Their new rules allow you to take the realspace raiding force you’ve dreamed of without being penalised in Command point cost. Want to run a pure Wych cult? You can do that. Have an urge to mix up Kabals with Haemonculi Covens? Do it!
How is this any different to how we run it currently? At all?

Traditionally, wych cults didn't wear much armor, so i hope it's not "political correctness" acting wild again. But yeah it could be quite interesting to see an actual kabalite melee unit (trueborn or otherwise).
In the same vein, perhaps we could even see a ranged type of wych cult unit? that's pure speculation, but i do hope they keep a distinct look from the kabalites.

I am absolutely looking forward to the new codex, from everything they mentioned, I think we will definitely be better off.
They talked about nearly every weapon in our codex being adjusted with only a small fraction not being buffed, 'to show case the viciousness of the Drukhari weapons'.
I'm hoping they touch on court models, as they mentioned units that didn't stand out on the table that should in the law being boosted.
I highly doubt it's Lelith on the cover, when has GW ever put a named character on the cover of a codex?
Finally, when they started talking about the detachment management, what they seemed to be getting at was the idea of taking your archon in a detachment, and picking and choosing what units you wanted. Eddie specifically said that we wouldn't be losing lots of our bonuses and rules from doing so, so yes! We will probably finally get the desired mixing of subfactions.

There is a kabalite standing to the back and left of the wych that *appears* to be firing a haywire blaster ... it could be a shredder, but its firing a beam and not a monofilament net ... but that is very heavy speculation (aka hope) on my part

The cover for the 9th edition death guard codex has Mortarion on it.
