| Dark Evil and sinister Is what I was going for here, I'm currently developing a tourney list and slowly painting it over on my blog Rant In E Minor alongside fairly in depth unit reviews. Here's the army paint-scheme on some Trueborn. Soon they will have a Venom ,though I have just started painting Lelith as a break from batch painting. Best, M | |

| This sub-forum is for background's on Kabals. I'm moving this to the appropriate sub-forum.
Also, please move your blog to your signature. I've browsed your blog before and really dig it, but soliciting traffic in the main post will get your thread locked. For the time being, I've edited your post and removed the link.

| Moderator responsibilities aside, this models are amazing. I love how you've got the reflective sheen on the helmets and the tattoo on the syrabite. | |

| Welcome to the forum, these are just gorgeous, Sorrowshard. I cannot possibly imagine how long it would take me to do something even remotely approaching this quality.
Can't wait to see further updates.
Cheers. | |

| I can try and do a quick rundown on the scheme for you. spray them black all the metal parts are painted boltgun, and tin bitz,
The skin and cloths are painted Deneb stone, nice and clean and flat, I tend to water it down a bit and go for several passes waiting for it to fully dry each time.
Once the base colours are on mix blood red and black i guess roughly fifty fifty and paint it on the base you can start up highlighting the underside with this mix too (only on the black at this stage)
Then shade the metal with badb black , you have to selectively choose depending on the part weather to just slap it on or 'actually' shade.
The cloth is highlighted by adding skull white, do not go up to pure white. blend highlight the metals with mithril, I use pure mitril watered down a bit on the 'steel' and i add mithril to tin bitz to get a washed out gold-ish colour , could not tell you the ratio I do all my mixing by eye that is blended on assuming a light source, then final sharp edge highlights are done in pure mithril on both metal types.
Now if there is skin you should do it, essentially you are looking to finish the model before putting the light effects on.
My skin is a very watery wash of elf flesh over the flat deneb, it should be just enough to give a little pinkish tone, very subtle, i then shade with watered purple ink in the eyes , consider where the skin is thin and you can add it there too, when I do lelith you will get a much better look at the skin, I digress
I then use badb in tiny amounts to shad in the eye, this will give a dark outline but not as severe as chaos black, you do not want pander eyes , just some dark contrast with the white to show the outline of the eye.
After the shading you can add a tiny amout of purple ink to watered deneb, just enough for a subtle change of hue, then keep adding skull white for highlights, again do not go to pure white.
Once that is done you can carefully dot the eyes in with pure skull white and pick out pupils with a teeny tiny brush.
With all the main colurs completed it's time to finsh out the base, you only need to edge highlight the base details up to pure blood red, fine highlights are picked out with fiery orange , this will look a bit odd, while I'm doing the base Im also doing the uplighting/blood on the underside of the model and cloth assuming the base as a light source and getting dimer the further up the model you go, gw paints tend towards pinky or orangy reds, they do not really do a true vibrant red.
At this stage to fix that and tie all the red /base together , I mix a bunch of red ink with s little purple ink, looking for a very dark reddy purple(watered down) this make take several passes waiting to fry in between but it should tie the base/reds together and the blue in the purple will filter out the yellow/orange/pink and give a deeper fruitier red, om nom nom (do not lick the base) i put the face tattoo on with pure watered blood red and then shaded it with the ink wash to stop it looking flat
The osl (OSL you can get a tut on elsewhere) is done with a mix of turquoise with DA green added, I honestly have no clue on the ratio I just mix it a little bit at a time until I get the colour i'm looking for (ish) where the glow needs intensifying you just add white to the mix again you do not really need to go to pure white, though i will on the main central source of light, it will need to be blended in though as a single point/ dot of white looks a bit off, the helms are osl/uplight with the illuminating point defining how it is done, then you put 2 coats of ardcoat/ gloss varnish on it and waiting for it to dry inbetween, I prefer to water mine down, the consistency you are looking for is (I hazard a guess) washing up liquid ? mine is pretty dried out, too watery and it will run and pool, too thick and it will look lumpen and crap, the two coats helps to ensure it is smooth and glass like.
I think thats it, maybe it will be of use to you, is going to be weird seeing my Kabal all over the place, lol
Sorry if this is a bit rambling, it's not meant to be a definitive article, more a stream of consciousness style thing.
I will try and answer further questions as best I can

| That write is is excellent. No need to apologise for rambling!
I can't believe you draw the eyes in last! I find that impossible to do, so I start with the white, draw pupils, then add the rest of the face in around it.

I'll do some work , possibly even finish lelith tomorrow after I go see Xmen.

| Really great paintjob! I really like the metallic reflections and the whole color scheme! Thanks for outlining the scheme, it's very inspiring for me just to want to try this at home and see what comes out of it! | |

| Cheers everyone, I actually finished Lelith, she's on my blog atm, I thought it would be fairer to show it to folks that had followed my drivel over there before I put pictures out anywhere else, i'll pop the pictures up in here soon enough. I just hope we don't end up with everyone painting there DE this way , lol @ Radium Hello mate , I love the idea of keeping a track of trapped souls, I may just have to join in | |

| I agree with you about the PVC outfit. I felt the same way. I ended up covering her in matte varnish, then putting glossy varnish on all the pleather.
Very nice model!
And don't worry about everyone painting their DE your way. I'm just stealing the glassy helmets.
...well, I'm trying to, but I'm pretty shite at it.

| The reason could be that the clothing is really, really tight?
Your lelith looks good, IMO you painted her face better than GW did. But couldn't you put her up here too, instead of just having pics on the blog outside of the forum?
