Allies, what are you using?

for a shooty loadout, i would also use warwalkers with shuri cannons or scatters if you have the points for them.
I am currently counting a house ruled DFO w allies army for 1.5k, and a normal DFO for 2k and +
Mine is a mix-match with eldar for LR - most of it they do better - and some cc support with DE going for my usuall cc - because they overpower most armies in it if used properly.

incubi, wyches, archon, all boosted with 1 paintoken for bonus fnp, the rest of the army is to soften up targets that are going to be hit. Archon - VB, PGL, SF, CD - Haem - Liqui - a)7incu 1 klaivex, demiklaves, onsalught OR b)8 incu all in raider w disintegrator. 2*(8Wyches - hwg, spec weapon, usually shardnet for tarpit - 1Heka - PGL, HWG, VB - Haem - liqui - Raider w disintegrator)

I've yet to jump into the allies, but I've been looking at the IA11 Corsairs.

Corsair prince with a shimmershield to go along with Grotesques (5+invuln and FNP in combat, yum), and take advantage of his orbital strike. If there are vehicles to hit with the lance blast, great, if not I can make a single turn of any game nightfight. Pretty potent when everything we have has night vision.

Then just some Guardian Jetbikes, which for 3 more pts are BS4. Fair trade to me.

Yea was thinking the same as Enfe. And not only that, our CC units hold their grounds pretty well right?

The big problem with desperate allies is they can't score and they can't contest, bad news in an objective based game.

When I used to play eldar my opponants would always moan about Dire avengers with bladestorm and a farseer with doom, so if I run allies i tend to take A farseer with doom and maybe 2 squads of dire avengers or 1 squad and some pathfinders because that 2+ cover save and rending on a 5+ is just great! Also against horde armies fire prysms are a great addition I find.

Havn't tried anything else but I can see the benefit of having some horrors and flamers of tzeench dropping down to soften up tough units!

I heard on the latest 11th Co podcast that Neil faced a DE/Eldar allies list, where the player had allied in 5 Fire Dragons, 1 Exarch w/ Crack Shot and Tank Hunters who shot the Quad Gun in a bastion. Its a few pts but doesn't take up a FOC.
Maybe take an Ageis Defence Line for the budget gamer....(lol)

Yeah. Dark Reapers, while not benefitting the gun quite as much (they can only have crack shot or fast shot active at once), have the range to engage enemies from afar, so the rest of the unit doesn't just sit around. Also fast shot is great if you use the lascannon, as it doubles the amount of shots.

In a 2000 point list:

Eldrad: He can doom two enemy units a turn while still fortuning himself and his Archon escort (since it is then still an eldar unit), doom is monster to combine with poisoned weapons and bladevane attacks (super nasty). And if you swap out for BRB powers you can prescience 2 DE units a turn, which helps against flyer spam.

5x Fire Dragon with Exarch and powers, wave serpent - the ultimate vehicle killing/bastion wrecking crew. Supplements the ravagers nicely.

3x Dark Reapers with Exach and fast shot - these guys man the icarus las cannon, the exarch makes it a heavy 2 with 2+ to hit. Excellent for flyer spam.

I have thought of using a few different allies.

For Eldar I would like to use Eldrad/ Farseer, a 10 Wraithguard w/ Seer (So its a troop), 5 Pathfinders and maybe a Wraithlord. I like the look of Howling Banshees, but not sure how they'd work within my army. Dark Reapers look awesome as well, and I would probably need a unit for the Farseer to join as well as a vehicle or two. I also have made a few Farseer/Warlock conversions already that fit with my armies look.

Chaos Space Marines - I was thinking adding some power armor would help add some durability to the Dark Eldar I have some CSM I started a while ago that just need some painting, as well as from Dark Vengence, It all just needs to be painted. So far here is a list of models I can choose to add into the list as allies - Chaos Lord w/Power Maul and combi melta or bolt pistol (magnetized arm, I have a model in both terminator and power armor), a Sorcerer, 8 Chaos Terminators, 15-20 Chaos Space Marines, 10 Bezerkers, 20 Demons, a Dread and the Chaos stuff from Dark Vengence.
