| Now, we are a Dark Eldar forum and always will stay one - however I don't mind a few Eldar and Dark Elves rumours being posted as they are relevant in many ways, from modelling to army synergising. Anywho, here's a new Eldar rumour from Faeit, note the part I have bolded. - Faeit 212 wrote:
- Hopefully this is just the beginning of Eldar rumors, but we have a nice jump on what is going on in the rules section of how Eldar are being developed. This of course is exciting to me, as I just got an Eldar army, and we have had rumors (via Hastings) that we will be seeing them later this year.
Take a look, but remember that these are rumors, and it sounds like rules are still be hammered out right now. So if you can, comment on what you read here, after all you never know who is watching.
via an Anonymous Source from the Faeit 212 inbox Just read your report with your new elder army.
A couple notes that you might find interesting: As of 03/01/2013
- Autarchs take Paths. These represent completed paths they have walked and are tied to the various aspects. By taking a path you make the respective aspect warrior a troop choice (the exception are reapers who just become scoring)
- Overall point cost reduction (guardians see it the most, aspect warriors see it the least, but are instead a fair margin better with only a minor cost decrease for two of the schools).
- new special rule that influence how howling banshees interact in combat. It's current iteration really makes them feel like glass cannons that are amazing at what they're designed to do.
-Seer councils have brotherhood of psykers (the farseers still cast their own abilities in addition, but two farseers together cast more than 2 farseers separately)
- in general, aspect warriors are hyper focused and hyper successful if used properly - No new aspect - 2 new flyers - lots of units get access to skyfire - new tank (on falcon chasis) - Avatar is buffed a lot - Two new special characters - exarchs are all really good in duels in different ways - farseers are still awesome psykers - warlocks improve deny the witch. - falcon/wave serpent point reduction - way to make some of the craftworld specific lists - additional rules for allying with dark eldar - expanded fluff on the war in heaven

Eldar now count as desperate allies when used as an allied detachment in Dark Eldar armies.

| Well, I think as for the separate allies rules for Eldar and Dark Eldar this has to be taken with a huge grain of salt, since I don't think this is something GW would pack in a codex. There might be a fluff reference stating how eldar and dark eldar are connected with the harlequins and all, but I doubt they'll give us any more beneficial rules than there are at the moment. For alterations or additions to the allies matrix i'd think they would likely release a separate expansion book... death from the skies anyone?! If Eldar are indeed coming later this year I might put my Dark Angels project aside (or sell it, I've not been too delighted by their playstyle) and go for some shiny new Eldar instead. Not saying I'm not happy, just sceptical | |

| These rumors seem to be more realistic than the other wild conjecture and speculation out there. They have been doing a better job making units/armies match their fluff a bit. Absolutely LOVE the idea of the Autarchs taking "path". I would love to see Banshees get a boost; I've always loved the models, though I must admit that I haven't used them since the mid 90's I hope that half of these are true. | |

| Cool. I was just about to start a Craftworld army anyway. I've heard rumours for a while about a new Eldar Codex, so if it comes out soon I'll be pleased, if not then oh well. I don't think that they should have more rules for allying, though. I mean, fluffwise, they might work together in a rare occassion, but if they try to make it so that it seems that they're best of friends then I'll be a bit annoyed. | |

| The rumours sound pretty realistic. I just hope that the Eldar will get some kind of an assault vehicle for the CC units (like a venom or one the two flyers). I have a small Eldar army, but only use the farseer and the jetbikes as allies. My banshees are crying for some action on the battlefield. | |

| I've had an Eldar army for as long as there's been Eldar models (long before there were Aspects or Avatars). Not played them much in recent years because I despise the current codex. The rumours above would go some way to tempting me back. | |

| I was not saying that the rumors are completely unrealistic, I was just talking about the extra allies rules. I can't see GW do that from a marketing perspective.
Autarchs taking paths is absolutely fluffy and awesome.

| I read them yesterday and I really, really hope they are true, because they got me excited as hell. As someone that regularly runs a Dark Eldar/Eldar force, I am really looking forward to the alliance rules. | |

| As far as additional rules for allies, I would guess that they could conceivably include something like the following:
1) Harlequins taken from either the dark eldar or eldar codex count as being units from both codices (for purposes of psychic powers, etc), but only take up one force organization slot (chosen from either the primary detachment's codex, or the allied detachment).
2) Incubi and Striking Scorpions cannot be taken in the same army (either that, or "Incubi and Striking Scorpions count as Desparate Allies with each other).

| Possibly the ability to enter each others transports (like in their own fictions....not that I'm bitter) and maybe the ability to target DE with Eldar psychic abilities but that's pretty pie in the sky | |

Sounds good to me, especially since rangers/pathfinders are my default troop choice for eldar allies.

There are lots of fluffy reasons why various units shouldn't be on the same side and I'd hate DE to be the only army (other than 'Nids) to have this enforced. The day that Battle Brothers cannot fight against each other is the day that Incubi and Striking Scorpions cannot be taken in the same army!

| Indeed, Dom, but it's a god way for GW to make money and to add more to the narrative of the game in some cases.
I am not a fan of allies, I have never been and I doubt that I ever will, but I might have to try this out for fun if they do get a new codex.

| I think part of the point is that GW would make more money with a less restrictive ally table. Truth be told, I'd totally have purchased Blood angels and Necrons if I could field them even as desperate allies. | |

| Let's take allies discussion to the allies forum?
New rumours from BoLS today, but to be honest this looks like throwing mud at a wall.
