| looking mighty fine Spell, those are a beautiful bunch of mandrakes! overall they have great dynamic poses and excellent colour variance Those scourge legs really do work wonders. Ive been using quite a few in my kabalite squad and was a little worried that id still end up looking like they all were the same (over use of scourge legs). But the way you broke the feet off the rocks/bases they came with and added in some extra basing really altered the looks. My elven basing kits are on their way from poland as we speak! and I cant wait to get my stuff based! although i might have over done it... i went with like 3 of their basing kits il just have to make my moneys worth with a few press molds | |

| Ta very much . There is no such thing as too much basing. It is one of the most satisfying parts for me. I think it is because it comes at the end of a conversion and the end of a paint job, sort of finishing off the model. Although I press mould parts of the basing kit the larger parts are better to buy so the 3 you have bought should last you a long while . I bought a bulk load of scourge legs from a bits site a while ago and have to say they are fantastic! I too worry that I use them too much but you are right, varying the basing ect really helps to change the dynamics of the legs and mixing a unit with standard wych legs really creates a cool dynamism to a unit. Got an awesome conversion that I have been working on to show soon so stay tuned for an update, very excited with this one and leands on to a very cool idea for a new unit. | |

| Absolutely stunning work, spellcheck, really inspiring. I was wondering if you might share your recipe for the Mandrake skin? Is it just Dheneb Stone (Rakarth Flesh) with some purple ink over it? Or how did you achieve the effect? | |

| Thanks kinnay, much appreciated . I use dheneb stone for the base, a thinned wash off purple wash (usually thin with lhamaean medium). To highlight I start with dheneb stone, then a 50/50 mix with skull White followed by a final highlight of skull white | |

| I love the choice of weapon for the demi glaives, they fit the look of the artwork perfectlly, can't wait to see it painted and what you come up with for incubi!
As much as the incubi models are nice I don't like them on the battlefield as too static. I made mine out of scourges and corsairs, cant wait to see what you come up with.

| Oh my! Cheers ESE Thanks Dragontree. I too think the finecast incubi are far too static for my tastes (lovely models though). I am using the scourge legs as the basis for my conversions too as they are just so awesome and poseable. My final kit to start the conversion arrived today so I will be starting on them soon | |

| I used the dark elves doomfire warlocks torsos. I had to sculpt the stomachs and half the backs as the plastic torsos end right below the abbs. | |

| WHOA! he looks brutal! the pose is just beautiful to behold, and echoing some other comments the choice of weapons for the demi glaives works an absolute treat! in honesty this is one of your finest pieces imo :)hes got just enough flare to tie him to the carnival theme which still maintaining a very sinister feel. The helmet choice under the hat is one of my favourite DE heads. I think the arm flare/shoulder pad thingy is the icing on the cake, combined with the hat they really pull the model into your theme Excellent work man, truely inspiring. ive been attempting to brainstorm a duke sliscus model for a little while and been falling short :/ although I know I want to use the skull smoke vial from the empire wizards kit, either as something hes holding or perhaps some part of a backpack. anyways, ive finished my dire avengers, my favourite is the exarch :)although these are older shots, ive now glued the base at a slightly higher angle and repositioned accordingly. The idea behind him is that (shimmer shield being a 5++) he uses his force mace and shimmer shield to deflect and block incoming shots, the mace crackling and bursting like a fireworks display, dazzling and distracting as he dances all over the enemies field of fire, his squad of dire avengers steadily advancing upfield undisturbed as they lay waste to those they cross. " /> " /> Heres a link to my gallery to see some of the squad and the warwalkers ive been starting to work on :)which so far are turning out amazingly. http://www.dakkadakka.com/core/gallery-search.jsp?u=69018 | |

| Dang Solar those are looking good. Really like the dire avenger crest atop that mask. I love the sense of movement you are getting with your conversions and there are some great themes going on throughout. A real ethereal webway feel to your army which I dig | |

| Hey Solar,
Suggest you start your own project log thread. you have some great modelling going on there, and i think it warrants its own space rather than being within spellcheck's thread!
Keep up the great work guys!

| I just registered here to say that these are fantastic! well done
as a fan of harlequins im making an army myself, but they are all rogue trader era so they look quite retro, and not as good as these , wow
I Also joined because to make my list work, I bought some dark Eldar as the Harlies are in both codeces .
Cheers! looking forward to more

| Thanks . I really like the old school harlie jet bikes and wraith lord models. The faces on the chassis are So cool. You will have to post up a few pics or start your own log when you make a start on your army. Love to see another harlie army running around . I play mine using the DE codex as it gives a lot of flexibility and the rules for them are pretty fun to use on the tabletop. A combined army sounds like a great idea and would have a really interesting dynamic on the battlefield. Love to see all those harlies charging across the battlefield supported by all manor of eldar goodness/badness. | |

| Thanks siticus. Pleased you have found me . They are starting to look great on the table but I still have alot of primed models (especially vehicles) that ruin the effect somewhat. Guess I better start some painting again. A bit distracted by infinity at the mo? Cheers Gobsmakked. I was dead chuffed he posted up my stuff. Always happy for people to find this awesome forum too. No worries dude163. One model is a good start. I have found that having a log is a great motivator to keep painting and modelling, and the feedback can be invaluable in motivating or helping to push or challenge skills. No pressure though | |
