| Thanks! Didn't help them last night though (mind you, i played utter rubbish too, got completely intimidated by what i thought was going to happen and tried to react to it, basically ended up contributing to it happening! I'll update my chronicles log later just to expose my shame for the world to see. | |

| Tonight i play again, against Eldar wraiths (I'm fairly happy about this) I've been suffering from a bit of a malaise this week - work interfering and robbing me of all enthusiasm for basically anything. Still, I made myself sit down last night and cracked on, managed to get the pilots and prow gunners all finished - just need to do the sponson gunners now and the ravagers will be complete! | |

| Right, so the ravagers are finished! I'll take some better pics when I get a moment I've started a bit of work figuring out my reaver scheme, which i wanted to differ slightly from the kabalite theme, but not too much given their shared background. As such, the bikes will use a similar scheme to the aethersails on the raiders and ravagers And I started laying down the basic colour scheme for the grotesque raider too (it has been asked elsewhere - no it's not an airbrush scheme, it's drybrushed) | |

| I like the raider mate. It looks mean. Also, i know the pain of brushed dry blending on large surfaces.... may the force be with you, friend. | |

| It went surprisingly well actually, that may have been due to the bottle of wine I'd drunk before I did it though! | |

| The filigree in the corners wasn't enough so you just put those awesome looking strand-ish designs on top... That's just genius in my opinion, mad but also genius. And am i seeing things or ist the purple changing from bluish on one end of the Ravagers to slightly more pinkish on the other? If i'm not seeing things and that's not just the lighting, then wow. | |

| All looks great. The reavers look very promising as well. The blue contrast to the purple is decent! | |

| @nexs - it's amazing how alcohol fuels the creative side of my brain! @Marrath - thank you, I'm really pleased with how the 'spiderman web look' contrasts over the top of the more formal filigree without being really garish. Sadly the colour change is just the lighting (there are some better pictures on page 1 where I've updated the first post with finished pics) @Grub - thanks, i can't remember how I hit on using the blue but I'm really pleased with how it's turned out (so much I'm even contemplating using it with my wraith army too - that or this purple. I doub't I'd ever want to play them together on the tabletop but I'd love them to look semi-coordinated if I did!) | |

| Here's a quick update for you, been working on my scourges for the monthly vow. Oops! They're not scourges, damn it those grotesques are sneaky! Ahhh, that's better. They still need another highlight on the metallic areas, two on the blues, the edge highlight on the armour plates and the 'flayed skin' tabards washing and highlighting. Hopefully all be done by next week so i can look at getting on with the reavers I've also vowed to do (why did I not vow the grotesques instead???) | |

| I think the alcohol makes you lose track of time, so you end up painting for alot longer without realising! The Scourges are coming along quite nicely! The grots have started too, I'm going down the crypt horror path now too (just gotta get my hands on the models because I "accidentally" got a new archon kit - very nice mold!! - and i want to run him with grots)
I picked up the purple wash and it's a beauty!

| It certainly is - what I have noticed though is that it dries darker than it looks when first applied , so no need to be heavy handed when applying it.
I love the crypt horror look for the grots, need to pick up a couple more boxes though to give me a nice big squad (or two smaller ones for a grotesquerie). I may then look at another alternative down the line for doing a second style.

| The purple wash, for me, will be used for the scourge wings almost exclusively. I run the blue wash over my purple for the darker look. But that just means it will last longer! I used the purple wash for the feathered wings of my test scourge and it's come out awesome, so thanks for the suggestion!
As far as the grots go, I'm taking baby steps into the coven side of things.. My only issue is the flesh gauntlets, and how i'm going to make/source them. How did you do yours?

| The mechanical looking one is from the talos kit, just stuck on where I've cut off the original hand. All the others are from the crypt horror kit, though I'm planning on having them fairly dripping with gore. | |

| Ah, fair enough... there may be a way to convert those hands into a mechanical looking thing (i'm determined to make them as true to fluff as possible!) I like the talos idea | |

| Right, some updates for you all - I've been busy! Put out all my DE collection the other night (except for the Hellions, they barely count anymore, haha!) I thought I'd made a lot of progress getting them painted. Turns out there's still a long way to go! Then I decided to make some progress with these guys. So last night I batch painted the purple on them Then today at lunchtime I figured I might as well get the base coats laid down on my reavers... This means that the only model in my whole 1850 list that has no paint on at all is the second venom. I should be able to rectify that this week, scourges should be done tonight (no TBE, scourges WILL be done tonight!) and I may focus on getting the Grotesques finished this week instead of the three reavers I'd vowed. I'll probably then focus on warriors and the venom next month, squeezing in work on the reavers when I can, as their scheme is probably the most time consuming. | |

| Not far to go now. The reavers are going to look really good in your scheme. Bought my blog wars ticket yesterday . Starting to write my lists and trial them out now. Shame I can't bring my DE | |

| Hell yeah. Keep rocking man this army is looking fantastic. How many points do you have painted at this point? Are you working towards completing a certain list/collection of models? | |

| Thanks guys. @Nexs - it helps that my wife is expecting our second child, so she goes to bed around 8pm at the minute, meaning I have a lot of free time! That'll disappear in September im sure... @Spellcheck - thanks man, I'm looking to get some progress on them tonight for the monthly vow. Looking forward to getting to blogwars, and meeting a few faces! @cavalier - painted so far is about 1875, I've got an 1850 list I'm working on for a tournament in June, though my total collection is currently about 3600. | |
