| Ah, that colour scheme looks somewhat familiar! Looking good mate! My Kabal must be an infant offshoot of the Burning Eye... the Drowning Eye, perhaps (being that Australia is "down under") Heh Heh EDIT: Also, you've used the raider dudes on the backs of the venoms, yeah? how did you deal with the awkward angle of their feet? | |

| Wow looking so good TBE. The purple is a lot softer than I realized... and it looks really really good against that terrain. I can almost imagine some Guardsmen only catching a purple shadow flitting behind the cover and not being sure of what they saw. The ice blue splash color looks great across all the multiple models. Its a low contrast type of deal which I think is one of the best painting approaches to Eldar. Awesome as always man... I really love this army. | |

| I'm flattered! And thank-you. It's really nice to get comments like that when it's something you're pleased with yourself (much better than my original, wasp scheme I think, and I'm so pleased the repainting of that screwed up now, though clearly I wasn't at the time!)
It is very pale yes, I put a light drybrush of slaanesh grey over the basecoat of daemonette hide, which fades it out a bit and makes it come across as a bit dusty. I like the low contrast stuff too, though I've gone the other way with my coven and mainly using black and red.
All I can say is - wait till you see the Eldar I'm working on alongside them...

| Got to chime in with the praise for the purple. Its luscious Lilac! It looks so good.
I really like the way the whole squad have blades on their guns (I would say bayonets but I don't think that's a DE term). Always good to see as many spikes as possible.
Thanks for the Pixlr-O-Matic link. Snazzy Photos Ahoy!

| For those of you that are curious, I wrote an article on my blog a few days ago about how I do the purple (and the rest of the colour scheme actually)
How to paint purple - by me

| Looking good! I also like the purple, and the bases are great as well, providing contrast and another theme to tie the army together. Very nice. | |

| Finished the second raider - onto the two squads of scourges, one with heat lances and one with haywire blasters. I'll do a bit on the converted weapons later. | |

| Man that Eldar style filigree at the corners of each panel is insane! The base is killing it too. This army is looking killer! | |

| Thanks guys, I should be over halfway there after this month! It's a real departure for me, sticking to one project till it's finished, I usually get really distracted and go paint something else after this sort of time. I think the spectre of competition is focusing my attention quite well!
That being said I did put the final highlight on the torso flames on my wraithknight over the weekend, but that was only like 20 mins.
The filigree is killing me - seemed like a good idea when I thought of it but with at least another 5 raider chassis to go (3 for the tournament list) and a second venom I'm kinda wishing I'd picked something a bit simpler! Pleased with the result though, some people don't notice it at first when they see the models in person, then the look on their faces when they realise it's there really makes the effort worthwhile.
Scourges have two of the three base coats done, just the metallics left then i can start layering and highlighting. I'm trying to make sure that they look like they're wearing heavier armour than the kabalite warriors, so there'll be more armour plates to highlight (Ironic, since some of the scourge arms have less armour on them than their kabalite kin - go figure!).

Oh, man! I know what you mean. I've converted alot of Lizardmen characters and spent HOURS doing it, and people don't tend to realise how converted it really is. I guess that's the sign of a good conversion, that it looks so legitimate that people think it's GW Keep up the trouble, it pays off!

| Some of your best work yet I think. The pallid wings in particular are excellent. Just lovely and crisp all over. Huzzah | |

| Right, just because I love you all so much - here's a WiP of the scourge squad. The leader at the back is complete (detail photos above). The other 4 are getting there, the bases are complete (except for the Ur-Ghul head), the metallics and feathered wings are finished. The blue needs 2 more highlights, and the armour panels need layering and highlighting. The bat wings need need the skeletal structure layering on and then we're done - should be by the end of the week hopefully, then I'll get cracking on the first ravager and I'll have to think of something else to add in for February's vow! Not sure why the photo has come out that colour - the background is actually bright white paper so the purple looks warmer than it is in real life. I'll take better pics with proper camera once the squad is complete. | |

| Phew - these are now finished! Thanks Spellcheck, they're an absolute joy to paint, but lots of fiddly little bits to do, if, like me, you're painting them once they're assembled (I wouldn't normally, but as this is a re-paint job they were all done already). Next up - another five scourges and 2 Ravagers! Oh, and a big box of amera terrain arrived on my doorstep yesterday, so I'll be posting something up on the blog about that this week - it's almost all cut out and I've sprayed the bits that need spraying, just the admin building to assemble and spray and the trenches to sand and basecoat... | |

| The bases match your board nicely!
I like the light bat wings, when i got my first box of scourges, I had intended on painting them very similarly to that, now it's been set in stone. Sweet job

It's amazingly fortuitous this, they're actually some of the boards for my club - it's almost as though since I was making them I chose the colours specifically to match the bases on my models... - nexs wrote:

Thanks very much - it's dead easy too actually, base coat of rakarth flesh with a wash of druchii violet over the top, the same principle would work with whatever colour you wanted to use (blue looks quite good too, i tested that when figuring out what skin tone I wanted from my DE. The skeletal structure supporting them is rakarth flesh highlighted with pallid wych flesh.

| I might do that, cheers! I might get onto the scourges once the archon and hisbblaster boys are finished (will be done this week) I'll have to pick up some of that druchii purple very soon! | |

| It's a great little tool for detailing things quickly - I also use it on my infantry models, basecoated with slaanesh grey then washed with druchii violet. It's not so useful on large flat surfaces like the vehicles though.
2 Ravagers are underway. I doubt I'll get them both finished this week, but should be getting there as the basics go on quite quickly (the filigree, not so much...)

| Haha! Cheater Unfortunately, I have to do all my vehicles with a brush, and I was silly and picked a colour that needed a wash over to look dark enough. Sigh. Good luck, friend. All that small freehand will take you a good chunk of time! | |

| Ravagers WIP - decided to try and get them both done together. and an overexposed pic of the filigree - the first ravager is now done in this regard, took just over an hour to do the whole thing (lahmian medium is wonderfully helpful in keeping the paint thin for doing this job!) | |
