You forgot to mention the bitter twisted burnt out husk of a man that will bitterly play with them Can't wait though

| Good lord. I think they'll be very survivable raiders though, I'd feel bad shooting them down. I would maybe even aim my bolt pistol somewhere else, just to be nice.
Good luck with the painting!

| That looks incredible. So much detail on the scrollwork. Kudos to you good sir! I don't envy you the painting of it though | |

| @Dragontree - they're for a competition, which will be my first, so I figured i needed as many painting points as I can get, cos I suspect it'll be a major learning curve for me playing genuine competitive matches. @thesaltedwound - let's hope it really works like that, I suspect that over the coming months my opponents will be shooting at the finished ones first! (My mates are just like that, haha! Example - after asking today what a tyrannocyte did, a friend of mine was told - Quote :
- they're basically dolphins that can only deploy in water, and they use the flamer template to spawn carnifexes
) @spellcheck2001 - it's not so bad as you'd think, I've found that after a while the brush gets too damp to work it properly and the line gets thicker, so half an hour is about the most I can do in one go without letting the brush dry off properly, and I'm quite happy with that - I paint in my lunch breaks at work so get half an hour most days to tinker away at things, then longer periods in the evening to do the larger parts. No pics but got all the brass basecoat done tonight on the vehicles.

| Well wow, that detail is really nice! I like it that it makes the raider more unique and there is nothing as bad as the same raider design over and over again. I guess sometime I will try it out myself ;-) | |

| News of further progress, I've now done the scrollwork on one half of the raider. I've also got some work done on the gunner The Infantry armour will all look like this, with the undersuit staying more purple and the armour plates themselves being a paler colour and edge highlighted. Then last night a young looking fella by the name of Urien Rakarth turned up on my doorstep, and he brought these guys with him. That's all - I'm playing a doubles game tonight against chaos and alongside Tyranids, so will let you know how it goes - I'm expecting at least 3 heldrakes! | |

| Wowzers that gunner looks fantastic Mr Burning Eye. Really nice soft tones, I'm far too heavy handed with paints!
A big fan of those conversions as well, if I was into the more grotesque side of life I would also be doing something similar.
All the parts have gone together very well.
Helturkeys and maybe flyrants? I envy you not!

| Cheers! At least the flyrants will be on my side (until we win and I stab them in the back of course), which is good, since I've divested myself of any anti air responsibility in the game (over to you Mr FMC).
The Grots aren't quite done yet, got lots of vials etc to add to them, and the piercings will be painted to look like metal spikes rather than bones but I've had lots of success using them alongside my succubus (actually the grots themselves have proved themselves useful once, every other time the succubus has wrecked face before they get a chance to contribute!

| So the Archon is now finished - apologies for the shoddy camera work, iPhone and work lighting doesn't make for the best pics, I'll try and take some better ones at home! | |

| So here's my next offering - after being 'blessed' by papa Nurgle for the last couple of days, my time spent at home on the sofa when not asleep was filled with this. Assembled Wrack squad, wrack venom and Urien Rakarth. Now I've got an idea about the venom to make it more 'coven'. I'm going to investigate options of raising some of the armour panels using plasticard/green stuff so that they look like the carapace armour of the Talos I've done, since I'm going to paint it the same and I'd like for fluff purposes for the venom to be constructed and armoured by my haemonculus (who's also arrived in the post - yay!) I've also, contrary to my painting plan, begun work on my first warrior squad (December's progress is going well, with my Archon finished and the raider about half an hour from the same, only the razorwing needs much work and I'm off over the Christmas period so should be able to finish it comfortably). As such, here they are - Kraxis' Vipers, although Kraxis himself is absent, the squad is instead being led by Syndar for now, who distinguished herself in my last game, charging a full squad of termagants with only two warriors by her side, watching them both get cut down but then routing the squad by herself in the next turn. | |

| That purple just continues to impress me. Growing up in the 80's purple was always the defacto color of the bad-guys (Decepticons anyone?) so its always been a favorite color choice of mine for Dark Eldar. Love the head choices on the Kabalites too... I always agonize over the general profile of the squad based soley on their heads. The Wrack Venom looks superb as well... all the chains and what-not coming off the gunner give the whole affair a really sinister silhouette. | |

| Thanks Cav! I too am a child of the 80's and Megatron remains the baddest of all bad guys! I'm also flattered that my offerings impress given the awesomeness of your army! Apologies for the appalling lighting, I'll do a decent pic once I get home, but the first raider is finished! | |

| Looking very good! I really love the detail on the armour... I may try it out myself ;-) and even though I'm not a friend of to much of the same color, I think the detail makes it look good again. So well done! | |

| So I forgot to take a pic of the Raider last night - but I did manage to get quite a bit of work done on the razorwing - it's very close to finshed now, just need to paint the gems on the missiles and the base and we're done for December's minimum requirements! Today at lunchtime I'll be working on the first warrior squad again, I'm hoping to get myself well ahead of my schedule the way this month has gone so far - I'll be undercoating Rakarth, the wracks and the other side of everything else this weekend, along with helping my bro come up with a chapter badge for his Emperor's Tigers marines. If I do get ahead, I think I may substitute in a Ravager next month - they really don't seem to perform well when they're just undercoated (or am I imagining things?). | |

| Not too many pics for you at the moment (check out my blog though - there's plenty from over the holiday period on there) but I did manage to start work on my grotesques at lunch today (what's that you say? They're not on my January vow? Damn, I must pay attention and paint what I'm supposed to - stop getting distractd Nick!) Here's number 1, along with 6 warriors that are approaching completion (I've been working on the bases, hence why the pic is looking top-down). | |

| Here's a thought - and one I might just look into a bit - the pose of the new archon model - not entirely dissimilar to my avatar. Conversion opportunity methinks, look to see me appearing on a tabletop in the not too distant future! | |

| Hey guys, so after finishing my warrior squad over the weekend, I decided to crank up the pace and got some decent progress done on this venom - just the pilot details, canopy and blue still to do. | |

| Hell yeah! Looking classic as ever Burning Eye. What are you using for gold? It looks similar to mine... Did you paint/prime/or airbrush? I'm always trying to steal people's gold techniques | |

| Thanks Cav! I have two different gold recipes - one for my Iron Fists Marines (See my assault squad for an example) and this one. The Iron Fists is a richer colour, uses (all GW paints) Balthasar Gold as a base, washed with Agrax Earthshade then re-highlighted with Balthasar and then Gehenna's Gold (I also use a little bit of Auric Armour Gold for extreme highlights, but don't often need them) This one however is much colder, and works quite well I think with the purple and blue, keeping the whole mini with an icy tone. Again all the paints are GW, and all are brushed on (I don't have an airbrush ) Base: Warplock Bronze 1st Highlight: Brass Scorpion 2nd Highlight: Runelord Brass The bronze keeps the recesses dark, and I personally think is dark enough it doesn't need a wash. Brass scorpion has a richer, warmer colour and then runelord brass lets hints of that warmer tone through whilst putting a much paler finishing tough on everything. It doesn't look that different to yours no, though if you wanted to do large areas I wouldn't advocate using this technique, the rudders on the raiders are probably as big as I'd go otherwise you might end up with streaks because of the way the runelord brass works. | |

| Urien is now finished too, the pic as ever at this time of year is taken under artifical lighting, I assure you, my fingers are not that orange (they're the usual pale pasty sunlight-averse gamer fingers!) | |
