| It seems like we should have a competition for the most underwhelming, yet plausible, formation bonus. My pick is a the Kabalite Warriors can upgrade one Splinter Rifle to a Shredder at no points cost. | |

| What I would love would be giving them Flesh bane once a game if everything is shooting at one target. That way we could finally have some tools against gargantuan creatures. | |

Hunt from the Shadows: During the entire first game turn, and during any turn in which the Night Fighting rules are in effect, all Troops units from this Detachment have a 5+ cover save, and all other units from this Detachment have a 6+ cover save. Oh wait, they already did that one!

| Any raider purchased in this formation comes with Flickerfields for free. However, any shots by the raider or those embarked on it are snap shots only. | |

| My bet is on this: The raider in this formation has a transport capacity of 11.
That way the Archon isn't left out.

That way the Archon isn't left out. My bet is that the Archon kills one of his Kabalites every time he wishes to embark on the Raider. And he only succeeds on a 4+!

| Is it save to assume, that any models in the Start Collecting box, won't be updated at any point this year then?
That is assuming we do have any models or upgraded boxes coming this year.....

That is assuming we do have any models or upgraded boxes coming this year..... Bearing in mind that they're all part of the new (5th ed) range (or newer) I doubt very much that they'll be redone any time soon.

That is assuming we do have any models or upgraded boxes coming this year..... Which models would you like to have updated? The only one in the starter box I'm not a fan of is the Archon but he is a recent release. Reavers, Kabalites, and raider all look good in my opinion.

| My bet at the formation rules:
The unit of kabalites must be 10 and start embarked in the raider, in deep strike reserve. Bonus: the unit gains fear the first player turn.
The reavers must choose the grav talon, can not be more than 3 models. Bonus: If you buy the arena champion upgrade with an agoniser he has +1 LD
The archon. Bonus: Take away the option to buy the shadow field instead get a version of the djinn blade that has strikedown and cost 35pts. Can't take a transport.

| Personally, I don't have preference, like most people here, I love the look of most the models, just wish the rules were brought up to date.
I was more just speculating, that IF, we do get a new Codex or any form of update, that the models contained in this new box won't be changed? Just leaving the remaining models to be fiddled with?
IMO, I don't think they'll change many models, maybe would have nice to have an updated Warriors sprue with a few more of the weapon options available etc., but then again, since it would be a more money grabbing move, they could always just bring out a special weapons sprue, but then I guess, that would work out cheaper for the collector, than having to buy multiple boxes...

| All joking aside, i think the formation description has a clue in it as to what the bonus will be: "the Arcon is armed with a Huskblade". Now this could be to just describe how the model looks, but I think it may lean toward the model coming with the huskblade (free) and maybe giving a HTH benefit of some kind. This, of course, still makes it useless. | |

| Looking at all of the Start Collecting! sets formations so far they all grant one bonus rule to the formation and all just say 1 unit of etc so don't limit numbers and/or force wargear unless I have missed some. Also the Necron set sets precedent for having an HQ who doesn't fit in the given transport. | |

| I agree that the Archon probably won't get into the Transport.
My best guess is that the Formation will have a Webway Portal on the Archon, but then the Raider and Jetbikes will not scatter if they land next to the Archon.

| From the looks of most of the Start Collecting Box, the rules generally follow a "radius around x" effect. Necrons respawning near the HQ, space marines shooting in the movement phase near the capt. Tyranid's seemed to have gotten a "don't scatter" style rule already, guard getting a 4+ cover save.
Crossing my fingers for a "ignore bad effects of jink" rule but it's probably more along the lines of "Enhanced Aethersails now move +1 inch"

| The Militarum Tempestus got something that isn't a radius based effect, so I'm hoping we get something nice and fluffy. The negation of jink's negative parts would be nice. It would be great to see gunboats be useful | |

| Ok, Ok, instead of being negative (and probably right) how about something that helps, and would be welcomed. Like: Surprise Strike: Formation and Dark Eldar models only Instead of deploying normally, any unit the Archon joins, and any unit in this formation may be deployed via deep strike without scatter on the first turn. No reserve roll need be made. The models may not make any further movement (including disembarking) but they may shoot and assault as normal.
I would use the hell out of this.

| Honestly, with a name like "Purge Squad" or whatever it is, maybe they'll get a formation ability that awards double kill points for killpoint objectives. It would make sense with the name that they'd be good at "Purge" the Alien missions, and it would -sort of- address a major weakness of DE.(That weakness being killpoint missions that are nearly an auto-lose)
To be honest, though, if we WERE going to get such a rule, it'd be shameful to get it on such a small formation that you'd have to shoehorn into lists without much positive effect, in my opinion. Such a rule would be better as a meta-formation rule or something.

| Considering that there is a Raider in the box and GW recent history of free transports I could imagine: "Raiders taken as Dedicated Transports may be taken for free".
Needless to say that units inside Raiders are still affected by Jink. But hey, if we are very lucky we might even get Chain-Snares for free!

| If a Raider would be free, it would be awesome! Only problem would be the Archon tax so not so awesome if you have to field one archon per free Raider... But if it would apply to several Raiders at once it would be a pretty powerful build I assume. Spam lances and Kabalite Warriors. | |

| I personally like the box, and it's contents. An Arcgon formation gives us some opportunity. Put him in the Raider, WWP and Aenimus Vitae, Deep Strike near a soft target, Aenimus Vitae for +1 PfP across the table.
Honestly, we have some good Covens formations fromthe Haemonculus Covens supplement. Also, the Death from the Skies book allows us to take formations consisting of a minimum of 2 fliers.
So I mean yeah, we don't have as many formations as the other factions, but we do have options.

We do have options, but not as many viable options as some other races. I think this is what many people are hoping this formation will do. Free Raiders or no Jink effects could help a fair bit, especially if the formation can be extended to multiple gunboats.
