Apparently... we're next.

Well I can only hope we'll be up right after the 1K's. The supposed order of release is us, blue boys and then skinny lads.

A few weeks of that peculiar mix of excitement over a new codex and dread that they're going to muck it up again like last time.

Got a tournament coming up in May (London GT) and was not expecting our codex to be out in time so was planning on either a Khorne CSM/Daemons list or Blood Angels but it now looks like I might actually get to use our own codex!

I've got Throne doubles on the 10/11th next month, doubt it'll be out by then. Shame really -_-

Look, we sent them a letter. They have to have someone who frequents the forums. They're not going to drop the ball on this right?

It is all just a delicious mix of excitement and dread.

Which is why they announched it, but to keep in true dark eldar style we need some pain with it as well. So the announchement was a lie and we are not due untill the end of may, so we can suffer a sharp pain of loss when we learn our codex is not due next month and another stab when it turns out our codex is barely more then our index with some stratagems slapped on.

Sounds like so DE are running GW

I am hyped for this now...it has been ages since I last posted mainly because I have been enjoying learning about the new codex for other armies and lost focus on my DE but now this will change everything!

Naturally they've decided to release it after I'd decided to start up a second army. My wallet won't forgive me for this one

I am very sceptical about this too... I was hoping we would be last so they actually have the time to put something together that is well thought out. Given all the releases I fear we will just be a rush job.

It was confirmed that our dex is next after TS, so i bet it'll drop on 17th of feb and pre-order will be on 10th of feb.

The majority of the already released Codexes have been well thought out. The only major complaints that I've seen are about... what, Grey Knights and maybe AdMech?

I know that we're going to worry but I think the odds are good that the Codex will work out well for us.

Idk, the fact it seems we will be getting factions instead of "chapter tactics" is not a good sign. Whereas an Eldar or marine player may think "do I want X unit to have Y or Z special rule" we will be locked into whatever group GW decides they belong to.
A bit of a dour assumption but I'm more cautious than optimistic when it comes to GW these days.

Why are people assuming that we won't get any new models? Don't get me wrong I predicted a long time ago that we wouldn't be getting new models but what has you thinking we won't?

Also what is the main problem with having faction rules rather than army rules?

For me, while I note it may bring a limited choice available per faction, I quite like this idea. Fluff wise I would rather have my Heamy with a Coven flavour rule than a generic army wide rule.

Main problem with faction rules is that either only 1 faction gets a rule, so limited diversity, and even if we get to use a rule for each faction, non faction units (mandrakes, scourges, incubi) will be left with nothing

I know I should not be as concerned as I am. But what I am most concerned with is that only very few people know how to approach making the rules for the DE. I think they have really cool fluff ideas and handle the theme of our army just fine. However, GW doesn't really know how to truely  grasps the essence of our gameplay on the tabletop.

We don't fall in any category (like horde or elite army) and the greatest common denominator seems to be the "evil cousin of the CWE" with lots of poison and darklight. I want a versatile codex with multiple choices that lets us have different lists and allows us not to just spam poison and darklight :/

I don't believe we will be as weak as we used to be, but I am afraid we end up with something really bland and boring. Our army could really deserve (partial) rework, but I don't think they are willing to invest such resources into a fringe playerbase.

I see and what rule are we talking about?  Like for example at the moment DE have an army wide rule of PFP.  If that stays and isnt replaced with faction rules then does this mean you would be happy?

I would be happy.

I don't see there being faction rules...I see there being faction related relics and strategems which shouldnt be a problem.

I really hope that they don't go all Blood Angels/Space Wolves and name all our stuff "Dark (fill in blank)" beyond darklight weapons. We don't view ourselves as the dark reflection of the craftworlds after all! WE ARE THE TRUE KIN!
