| I agree with Shredder, in that i hope he's wrong And also in that the last Codex and especially the Index were pretty crap. What gives me hope is the Tyranids Codex that i also own. And it's awesome, even though no new Tyranid Models were released. Hope the same will be true for ours. BUT it could as well be barely better than the Index which would still be pretty crap. How about we don't tell each other to be opti- or pessimistic when noone can tell what the codex will actually be like? | |

| Except ESE and he will only say solid which I can't infer the meaning of without hearing where he stresses the word. ESE, a sound bite for the ravenous masses? | |

He's said more than just 'solid', if you search through the thread a bit more.

I'll drink to that. Does anyone know when we can expect Faction Focus stuff?

Next week is my guess. They dedicated this week to AoS, and, really, they're going to need to start releasing them soon if they're to keep up with their previous release schedule

| If it's not this coming Monday I'd be surprised... but then again I said that this last Monday as well. I'm just hoping we get it to leave me with enough time to play before I move. Speaking of which, anyone have any idea what the 40k scene Is like in Saint Petersburg, Russia? | |

| I do hope that we get word on the release soon, I need my fix. I see no reason why releases for one of GW's games should mean that there other games releases need to be put on hold | |

| A summary of comments from ESE, afaik the only player on this forum to have seen the upcoming codex. But if you've had lots of games with it, I take it like you liked it.We indeed have. And yes, it is quite good They did take our feedback seriously and incorporated many of our suggestions. It’s definitely worth getting excited about. GW is listening to its player base and wants to make their armies play in a way to match their lore. Can say that we've played it a lot, it is very solid. [When pushed on how "solid"] It's "really solid." my biggest desire is special rules that increase the flavor of the units. Will I camp happy?Flavor and making sure that units/wargear better fit their background was one of our primary jobs. You will camp happy. Not to keep teasing it, but the codex will very much be worth the wait. You can all draw your own conclusions from the above summary. Personally, I can't interpret those comments as anything other than positive towards the new book. | |

| I think ESE is very wise in not promising too much, as this just amplifies the expectations further. Which leads to greater disappointment inevitably.
Apart from that, I only want to add that there is a difference between genuine concern and pessmistic disregard.

You can all draw your own conclusions from the above summary. Personally, I can't interpret those comments as anything other than positive towards the new book. That does indeed sound positive. However, at the same time, I'm struggling to see how GW could really have brought much improvement (at least to the areas that most interest me). Unless they've suddenly reversed their 'no model, no rules' policy, then they're locked into 3 HQs with no movement options and very little wargear. With no new models and rules only for what little there is, I just can't see much meaningful change happening. I really do hope I'm wrong on this. I'd like nothing more than for the DE codex to be a shining example of good design and GW listening to the community. Oh well, I guess we'll know soon enough.

Absolutely. However, since we've yet to see any sign of new DE models, I'm working with the assumption that we're not getting any. If they've taken the rare choice of waiting to the last minute to unveil new HQs for us, then I'll be more than happy to revise my theory. If they release a Mandrake HQ, a Scourge Lord or a Winged Archon/Haemonculus, I might well see if there are any tickets left for the Hype Train.

| One of my friends is a Tyranid player, and told me that in the new Tyranid Codex GW gave rules to many "items" (stuffs?, elements? I'm sorry, i'm not sure wich could be the correct word for this in english xD) that the miniatures have but that didn't has rules before.
Maybe, in the new codex, the HQ loses old options but they give rules to new things, like the blade of the shoulder plate, the horns of the archon's mask, the tentacles of haemonculi, etc.

Unless I'm mistaken, most of the nid stuff that got rules had rules back in 4th. - Rodi Sikni wrote:

The main difference is that the nid stuff can actually be changed. For example, the Carnifex model has about 3 different carapace pieces. There's a normal one, one with spore cysts and another with some sort of spike-launchers. They've also got about 6 different heads, 2 2 optional tail pieces etc. Barring conversions (which GW explicitly don't make rules for), the current Archon model has no options in terms of its gear. Same goes for the Haemonculus. I mean, I'm sure GW could make rules for some random piece of gear the Archon is holding or wearing, but since you can't change it, it would be functionally identical to just giving the Archon itself that rule.

| What do you all think the chances are of GW rolling some of the new AoS witch models into our line, similar to the vortex beast with TS? | |

| Actually I have great hopes for it, but don't want a Mary-Sue dex, I really would like to have more winning options and not, things like "you play that or you will be tabled 1 round". We really need some firepower (against masses) upgrade like the old splintercannon (Assault 6, 36"). | |

Fairly high, I'd say. There's a lot of Dark Aelves stuff that's been released that looks like it'd fit right in in Commorragh. Looks like the Thousand Sons faction focus has wrapped up. If we really are the next up, we'll know for sure in the next few days

| Speculation is pointless, as is optimism or pessimism. Arguing over what it might be is useless, when all we need to do is wait to see what it actually is. *Then* we can argue. | |

It's not pointless. It pass the time while we wait for the codex. Why waiting calmly when we can argue, cry, rage and insult others?

| Well ... We can also speculate on what we already know ... ESE mentioned they took our letter seriously, they listened to the world wide community of Archon, and have made units more "fluffy" with wargear, rules, and stats that make the unit feel more like it's supposed to. So I ask ... What parts of our suggestions do you think they took? Or which part more than likely made it in? | |
