I just tossed up a thread...40K FB site Warhammer representative commented today under the newest 1K Sons article that they only said which three codexes are next...not that Dark Eldar are next. Which would be complete BS since I've been at the point of boiling over.

The rumour of Dark Eldar being next is that they apparently said so at the LVO during the reveal. There has been no official word on the release order beyond that rumoured comment from the LVO.

| FLG did say that the Druhkari was the next codex as announced at the LVO which is where people are getting that from. However seeing as GW hasnt shown anything what so ever one way or the other it's still up in the air | |

I'm just hoping we get it to leave me with enough time to play before I move. Speaking of which, anyone have any idea what the 40k scene Is like in Saint Petersburg, Russia? In russian sources we haven't had a word about DE coming next but prbbly it has been a translators mistake. Even more we've had rumors that DE are coming in mid April or even May. In Saint-Petersburg we have 2 places to play and both of them are pretty popular (in terms of russian wargaming ofc). You can write me if you need more info on that.

Honestly this could have been a mishearing or poor phrasing at LVO - Drukhari coming out last of the three would fit closer to the original rumours that said we'd be getting Drukhari and Harlequins in April.

| But that wouldn't happen as worst case scenario the rumors are already proven wrong ... Two codex a month means that the absolute latest Druhkari can be released is the second half of March (seeing as GW has stated they will release two codex a month and have stuck to that) and it has been confirmed on the community page that the next three Codex are Druhkari, T'au, and Necron. So I wouldn't put much stock in rumors. | |

| Not gona lie, pretty fething annoying for GW to pull this crap. None stop releases for 8 months then they tell us 3 xenos books are next and they take a month off... Would have rather they kept their mouth shut personally. | |

| It is incredibly annoying. Just feels like now that the "important" factions have codexes they're going back to treating the others as worthless and will take much longer with their releases | |

| I'm going to be optimistic and believe that even if next week we will not se a codex Xenos on pre-orders, tomorrow GW will start with the Faction Focus because the next release need 2 weeks talking about how cool it is. | |

Unfortunately the "year of xenos" was never actually quoted by a GW rep. :/ I've felt the same, trust me, until I found that out. - Quote :
- Because they never said it. It was a mutation of an answer given that was something along the lines of this year we're focusing on Imperium and Chaos, but there will be plenty of Xenos stuff next year, which fans turned into "OMG! It's year of the Xenos!"
- Quote :
- The “Year of Xenos” thing was never said by GW. It was a clickbaity rumor spread around by BoLS and Faeit to drum up clicks for their sites.
If GW has actually said Year of Xenos and then released what they did, I would understand the outrage. But there was no such announcement. Most of the outrage is disappointment for overly high hopes -Some folks on reddit So while I am certainly in the boat of wanting and waiting for new, good things...it will get here. Someday...but it will get here. I'm starting to agree with some of the people who are getting worried for the level of hate and toxicity that is cropping up on this forum. I entirely understand the hurt dark eldar went through for the last couple years, 7th edition primarily. I also understand there is a difference between "40k hard mode" and being told to fight off a horde of zombies with a literal water pistol. At this point I'm going to have to hope that our codex will be good and fun. Probably not great but simply by how dark eldar are, we'll never been viewed as a top tier army in the eyes of the masses no matter how powerful we are. Think about 6th edition? Wraithknights and Riptides and other monstrous creatures were rampant and the bane of all armies. What faction laughed in the face of monsters? What cheap, quick unit could we field with a fairly high rate of poisonous firepower and was just about the only unit even known that existed in the dark eldar codex. And yet as good as the venom was, it wasn't fielded as a hard counter for 6th edition, even with all of the tournament players who would switch armies at the drop of a hat to field the best things there are. Why is that? Honestly I feel its perception more than anything else. And I think unless they completely revamp dark eldar into something that doesn't even come close to resembling itself anymore, they'll always been seen as a weaker or harder to play army simply by the nature of how they're supposed to work. I mean, the number of ork players who talk about how fast boyz die and those things are at least T4 and 2/3rds the price of a wych But on the flip side it all depends on how you and your opponent play. If you're only ever facing the current top meta 3x5 unit super build, the yeah "fluffy" lists will feel like they can win, or if they do it'll be hard. That's just how competition works, whether it's wargamming or TCGs. And then you have the times where you field a whole wych cult army against codex craftworld eldar and win after honestly believing you wouldn't get past turn 1. ^_^ It happens, and that's what we should be playing this game for. Being awesome evil space elf vampires who don't need armor. Now this isn't to say we don't need some help to catch up to codexes, both in power and flavor. I'm not saying we can't be nervous or even skeptical. Wishlisting is fine and a lot of fun when kept positive. But I am learning that only thinking about our guys as the worst trash that can't do anything remotely useful (as I admit I have felt on occasion, sad to say...) then that only pollutes our view and more importantly makes it harder to just have fun. And if you feel it best to just have your dark eldar sit on a shelf and wait until better times, then that's fine. If you're just not having then that's understandable and I sympathize greatly with you. Whether GW "deserves" another chance or not is not for me to say, but I do hope we can afford them that chance or we won't ever get the chance to love our sexy spiky sadists ever again. And just in case I didn't mean for this to be a reply solely to one person, but as a general to the whole of the true kin players and even a big portion to myself. It would be a lie to think myself as some holier and better than thou player. I just want to have fun with my plastic army dudes and I know I am becoming a cause of my own inability to do so. And I just hope that those who feel hurt or betrayed the most can at least work to see through until the next codex. I don't like using the term "it's just a game" because even if it's mostly true, it is also an investment of time and money. But it is a game meant for fun and I hope we can work to get back to a general consensus of doing just that. Focusing more on tips and tactics than outright hatred. I want to put my trust in that simply by reaching out to the community for play testing, GW is trying. But it does take a long time to change, and at this point I'd much rather sit here with a hopeful attritude and find all the neat and cool new stuff when we get our codex than stew in my own toxic sludge and do nothing but nit pick at all the things I don't like. And now that I've ranted a super long post that probably no one will actually read... TL;DR: I just want to have fun in this game but that is as much on myself as it is on GW. I hope this forum can keep growing as an awesome community for the best 40k faction there is.

| So the first thing I did to confirm if we would be next codex is compare the order in which the pictures appeared. The way they've presented dark eldar is consistent with the release order of past codexes, meaning that we are next unless GW has completely altered thr picture representations that have remained consistent since the start of 8th edition. So, even If "dark eldar are first" is just a rumor, we should be optimistic.
On the Other hand, if we aren't next, we have every right to be outraged over visit GW ambiguity and inconsistency (the jerks.)
