Oh, 100% agree with that, but it seems the new tactic for us according to GW will be to charge our vehicles in turn 2.
That is not tongue in cheek... that is serious.
So to help, they give an invul and +1 attack.
Is it a good tactic? no. Do I like it? no. Will it happen anyway? Probably.

Its probably extremely unlikely, but could Coven get their invulns replaced with DG damage reduction? With wracks going to 2 wounds?

Not only that, they also increased strength via blade vanes change and starting on turn 3 (when it actually matters) we don´t get penalized for shooting in melee.
Melee might be the new safe space for our transports particularly when engaging other vehicles!

My thoughts on the preview so far:
In the Kabalite Trueborn rule, it mentions you can take one for each "MASTER Archon". So, not Vect, but an upgraded Archon? Either way I'm really happy to see Trueborns back. And I don't think I'd use more than one unit anyway. Also, if Trueborn are back, is there a chance Bloodbrides are as well? Also, to me it doesn't seem to be a trategem, like some people mention. And I don't see anything yet that would mean Trueborn can't take more special weapons. May I remind you what the page for Kabalite and Trueborn looked like in 7th edition? It was the same unit, but you were allowed to upgrade them to Trueborn, and that also resulted in being allowed more special weapons.
I'm disappointed in the Raiding Force to be honest. Still not able to use an Outrider instead of Patrol for the Cult then. And at least in 8th, Reavers were the only reason to take a Cult at all. At least it does seem to give the option to take only 2 Patrols without CP cost for smaller games.
The Realspace Raid however opens up so many options!! Basically, 3 Patrols now count as one Battalion, and without CP cost. And since it says "Drukhari Obsession", maybe they still each get their own obsession without blocking each other's obsessions. I doubt we can give a Coven obsession to a Kabal unit. So I think that means that one Realspace Raid Battalion has 3 obsessions. Either way, I can now have Cult, Kabal and Coven, and still have 2 detachments left for my Murder Clowns. Also, a Spearhead or Outrider as second detachment with Drahzar as HQ and for example Reavers both gives you that 4th HQ, but also opens the option to give Reavers another obsession than your Wyches. This does mean I'll have way more CP left at the start of the game then I ever did so far. So that's good.
Wait... Power From Pain now only works if the entire army is Drukhari or Unaligned? Does this frak up my Murder Clowns option again? :S Well, that happy thought lasted a full 3 seconds... :'(
Poisoned Tongue with Poison 3+ rifles? Possibly on Trueborn with WS 2+? OUCH!! I now also see the value of the Splinter Cannon.
Losing the FNP save in PFP is too bad though. Hopefully it's not just Kabalites that got a better Armour Save. I think the FNP save will probably become a Coven only thing. That makes more sence anyway. But to not take all our survivability away from Kabal and Cult, they added the Invul save. I'm mostly wondering what that means for our Wyches, since they already had a 4++. They'd not benefit at all from 2 out of the 5 PFP rules if their rules don't change. And same would go for vehicles with Nightshields. Maybe those will now give a higher miss chance instead when under attack?
Combat Drugs seem to not force you to take all 6 before you can get the same one twice anymore? HELL YEAH!! Rolling becoming rewarding by allowing 2 drugs is also interesting. Technically there is now a small chance that wyches get +1A AND +1S, or +2A if you roll the same twice. That is, if the drugs stayed the same.
This is all in all better than I expected. Not just a tiny update, but they actually put thought in this. Pleasant surprise.

And thinking about it thematically: I LOVE IT!
I am already picturing my space pirates ramming other vehicles at full speed, slicing with their blade vanes, firing cannons at pointblank range, Sailors swinging their cutlasses at dazzled enemy crews... I am very excited about my Incubi that were recently painted. Getting their 3" Disembark + Move + D6 advance + 2D6 Charge will mean some very dead Marines (who will cost more than us!).
Troops are looking interesting, with getting some sort of upgrade for each "Master" HQ.
Venoms getting moved to a long range fire support still feels strange, but I am starting to get behind it.
Still so many possibilities, and we havent even seen what Coven will get (besides keeping our second best Relic IMHO).
Should we expect more reveals today, or are we going to continue chewing over yesterdays tidbit?

Very fun. I think we are more like Vikings than Pirates but I still love that theme.

A preview from Warzone Charadon just hit: https://www.warhammer-community.com/2021/03/17/build-devastating-themed-forces-with-the-new-armies-of-renown-system/
It only mentioned Cult of Strife by name. but it shows what rules we can reasonable expect. No huge surprises, WC talks about specialist detachments and unique stratagems for said detachment.

So Formations are back?
Great. I remember how awesome it was to be one of the first army to get one
I forgot we're most likely not getting one lol

The ultimate test, though, for this release is, will GW manage to make Hellions playable?
Somebody just won a large tournament with a list featuring Hellions, so job done already!
Oh crud! That means they'll be nerfed.
I'm not sure that changing the core mechanics of the missions so that you get points even if your units have 0 damage output or is wiped of the board as soon as someone aims at them was the "fix" i had in mind for hellions. But I guess they are technically playable now then.

I hope we get another reveal!
I'm very hyped and wanna see more but maybe we only get max of 3 teasers in our preview week? In fairness, there was at least 2 articles worth of info in that last one so I'm not too salty.

I believe the stuff in the Campaign book doesn't apply for matched play, is that right?

From what I understand, the list was unfortunately illegal. It contained 3 units of 1 razorwing flocks (for MSU screening/secondary grabbing) and per the current Munitorum Field Manual the minimum unit size is 3.

It does apply for matched play, but I wouldn't be too worried about it.
The DG and Mechanicus 'armies of renown' (aka formations) that they previewed are pretty thematic, but they have disadvantages as well. They don't look particularly OP to me.

I play mechanicus. They are not OP, but if you have army that is succeptable to certain units - you will have a hard time. Mechanicus formation buffs their most powerfull unit - shooting kastellan robots with -1 to damage and +1 to hit if you shoot at target in enemy deployment zone. I deleted multiple units in a single round of shooting with a squad of those guys even before this. I mean they can down Mortarion in a volley.
But this bonus severely harm army army compostion, basically chopping away half the army. If you cant take allies - thats basically unplayable in competitve sense.

There was a leaked (or previewed) contents page a few weeks ago for the campaign book. I don’t think we get an Army of Renown. They listed three: Defence Cohort, Terminus Est, and Metallica Freeblade Lance.

I think we might get one more non-crusade reveal before Saturday.
We got the release pushed back so maybe GW had planned some of those earlier reveals for our preview week. They probably decided a slow burn approach was better than giving us no info for months.

Maybe But revealing 7 things at once is unsusual, isn't it? plus there is so much stuff releasing this saturday taht the week might be too short to cram everything in.

This is also very true. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
As soon as the preorders open people with advanced copies can start talking about them though right? That'd be nice. My confidence in them is still shaken enough from those crap articles that I still don't wanna put down money until I know the big picture on this book.
