It would be a pity if Soul Trap is gone. I still have my Archon modelled with it.

Though the lhamaean has had both of her arms replaced with non-standard ones, which might lead one to think it was a new model. Most likely just a conversion though.

None of you realize what is happening. The anguish and sufffering you are feeling is powering the Friday release of all things Drukhari. GW is using you to feed the Archons of old. It's a brilliant tactic that even Vect would approve of.

Crusade is the only way I plan on playing 9th edition, so this preview is as good as the other one. Honestly it’s funny people are so mad about the previews not being the RIGHT KIND of previews. It’s a marketing email, it’s not actually trying to inform anyone about anything. If you hate it, just change the channel when the trailer comes on and listen to a review from your favorite reviewer, ya know?

We were lucky and it was a bit of a treat getting so much in one day. They could have started Monday with a reveal on pfp and left you hanging. Instead they pretty much gave us a weeks worth of reveals all in the same article but of course you always get those childish few that are never satisfied.
One poster already nailed it a week ago when they said expect a reveal on rules, a reveal on crusade and a reveal on the lore. Anything on top of that is a bonus.

Crusade is a vast improvement over 8e's "Narrative" games, and acknowledging that there's a niche for less competitive players is a wise move because - frankly - it lets Matched Play games BE Competitive without messing up the fun of the beer & pretzels crowd.
40k's an odd beast because there are basically three ways to play... but they're not the three ways Games Workshop advocates.
GW claims the three ways to play are Open Play, Matched Play, and Crusades. But in actuality, it's Crusades, One-Off Matched Play, and Iterative Matched Play (better known as "Tournaments").
In the abstract the two types of Matched Play seem similar - but in practice, armies that "win big" are better in Iterative Matched Play, and armies that "win often" are better in One-Off Matched Play. Most people play One-Off Matched Play most of the time, and even people who play tournaments are 'forced' to use One-Off games to practice and just kinda have to mentally acknowledge that "I won by scoring 26 VP to your 25" - while a clear and unambiguous success in One-Off Matched games - isn't gonna get them to the big boys' tables in tournaments (y'know, depending on format).
Anyway, yeah, I actually dig the concept of taking over some poison mines back in Commorragh so that my freshly mined mint-flavor poison can wound Mortarion on a 2+. It's hilarious and fluffy and actually feels like Dark Eldar.

In my Kabal my Poison team are working on candy flavour so that I can wound cry babies on a 2+ re-rolling 1’s to wound.
On a serious note I totally agree, the reveals from today do point to some fun league potential. Especially after taking down another Archon!

Haha, How did you spot that? That is such a good catch! My guess is the plane is photoshop-cropped from another picture (and added in to give depth to this one), and for some reason a model in the background from that pic got cut out with it, by accident. It looks pretty weird, though. Some kind of kit-bash,, is my guess. Maybe a wych-Venompassenger mixed with a wrack, or something? Edit: Looking again it actually looks like just a normal wrack. But standing way up in the air. Maybe the upgraded Haemonculus allows us to give the Flier-keyword to one unit of wracks?

It kind of feels like everyone needs to take a step back and breathe. Our Codex is going to be fine.
The rules preview on Tuesday suggests that at least some effort will have been put into our rules. Was anyone actually expecting Trueborn, Bloodbrides and upgraded characters to appear in the way described? I certainly wasn't. I thought we might get a strat to give a slight boost to Kabalites at best, this substantially exceeded my expectations. The new Power From Pain is intriguing, the change to how we can take detachments is something we were begging for throughout almost all of 8th edition and Obsessions seem like they're going to have received substantial buffs judging by the change to Poisoned Tongue.
There are some very big question marks still, of course, and the rules that appear to fill those in might be a disappointment. But even if they are, at this point we'll still be left with something that's just different, not worse. We'll be able to make it work.
Relax. We're going to be okay.

Well, I'm not letting myself down to your level and hand out insults.
Frankly, "massive reveal" is a plain overstatement. It reveal really boils down to: Take drugs as you want, you have advance + charge at T2, Poisoned Tongue seems like a good obsessions, Trueborn are back in a different shape and we can have a better Archon in melee.
That's not nothing and nobody is denying that this is not good news... but it's not really substantial either. It just doesn't compare to the 5 part Death Guard reveal which which showcased massive rules, such as the one lowering toughness.
I think the faction spotlights on or upcoming 8th edition was handled perfectly. And they gave the impression that we knew what we were getting into. And a lot of questions are still unuanswered.
If GW claims that this is the best "codex ever" they better back it up. And so far they have not, simple as that.
I don't understand your emotional investment in other people's thinking. Heck, I'm not trying to be negative. But GW deserves to be called out for some things. Why is it that they have plastic Ur-Ghuls but won't release them outside of Necromunda?
It is indeed possible to criticize several aspect of GW handlings, while still looking forward to other aspects. This doesn't make anybody inherently negative... or worse.
If you think it's bad in the Dark City, you should check out the Craftworld Eldar on Reddit lol.

I’m not going to hazard a guess about what this does or does not mean for our codex. But I will say I feel a little insulted over this piss poor excuse for a preview week. I don’t recall any other faction with a ninth edition codex having their preview week wasted on trifling b.s. like ours has been. I’m sure lots of people play and enjoy Crusade and they’re happy with this preview but the overwhelming majority of us play Matched Play rules so this “preview” might as well have been for AoS or Blood Bowl for all the good it does us. DG and DA both had huge rules dumps in the days leading up to their preorders, so much so that it was very easy to judge the strength of their books well before the review embargo lifted on Saturday. Less than 48 hours away from our embargo lifting and I have no idea if the book will be decent or not.

I think revealing Crusade stuff would be fine if they hadn't already skipped two entire days revealing other stuff.
Yet again, I'm reminded of the 'previews' for Blood of the Phoenix.

for my part, i'm REALLY happy with what they revealed so far.
We have a rough idea what our army will do, but no, we don't know everything because.....well it's not the actual codex, only some previews........Seriously when you look at a preview from a movie.....are you pissed that you do not see the final fight? It's only a preview and you have to go see the actual movie to link all the dots.....it's the same here.
And btw, nothing forces you to go pre order the book, just wait a week and read all the reviews on the internet and then make your decision....plain and simple no? they won't go sold out you know? so no rush necessary. For my part, saturday morning i'll be at my local store for sure!

I wouldn't say revealing Crusade rules is a wasted article. But I agree that this has been an outstandingly poor release week.
The purpose of these WarCom articles is to encourage people to pre-order the codex and buy up models in anticipation of the release.
Show of hands, out of those here passionate enough about DE to be engaging in a 70 page thread on an obscure internet forum, how many of you are sufficiently hyped about this book that you're going to be pre-ordering/buying a substantial amount of product? I can pretty confidently say I'm not.
