If it doesn't specify they got it from a pain token, rather implying that they start the game with FNP instead of it being granted by a token that they start the game with, then Power From Pain could be gone altogether. Or at least altered as to who gets the benefit from it or what it does. But I could just be being pessimistic.
If they can still pass FNP to their squad I won't mind *too* much (I rarely got any other bonus from PfP). Though, it would have been nice to see PfP refined a bit. However, if PfP is gone and not replaced at all, then I'll be sad. Also, unless Haemonculi change to 20pts per model, it seems like it will be hard to justify including them if they no longer buff their squad.

| I would be okay with removing starting pain-tokens from covens if they start with FnP and improve it to +4 when they get a pain-token, even to those who don't start with FnP.
Maybe a 20pts for a haemonculus would be good in that case. Maybe an upgrade to start with a paintoken as well, if you want them as a squad-buffer. Also it would give more reason to keep the haemonculus with units like wyches, if he could give them +4s on their FnP just by being around.

I would definitely like Haemonculi to be squad buffers, because that's their only role. Otherwise it would be like removing psychic powers from the SM book. You'd be left looking at Librarians and trying to work out what they're there for.

| I wonder if any changes will be made to Haemonculus Ancients to make them more worth taking. Access to more relics, or shadowfields. | |

Perhaps they could have IWND, and also give IWND to a character or MC of your choice at the start of the game.

would love haemonculus ancients to get access to more specialised relics but unless its in a supplement (very possible from what I read on natfka) I cant see it happening. tho I pray it happens im just happy that there seems to be more options for wrscks (options always a good thing) and hope that this translates to their masters also

| Hey everyone, longtime lurker on this forum, the buzz about the new codex got me to sign up.
Just a quick question about the power mauls (and correct me if I'm wrong because I have been out of the game for a little while) but couldn't the acothyst take a generic power weapon as an upgrade? If you take a generic power weapon don't the rules allow for it to be modeled as one of those listed in the "power weapons" section, technically allowing wracks with an upgraded acothyst access to power mauls (or a spear/sword/ax if modeled as such)?

Acothysts do not have access to power weapons, according to the dex. And welcome aboard!

Nope. You may be thinking of Agonisers, which, while typically come in the form of whips, can be other weapon types and happen to be described as power weapons.

| Ah, my mistake, thanks for the clarification. I haven't played for a while and haven't really been looking at the codex lately because of the incoming changes. | |

| If anyone's thinking of playing guesswork, looking at what the models in the Symphony of Pain minigame can take might not be the worst idea in the world. | |

| Some exciting news, just got back from my local gw selling shop and have preordered the codex, datacards (presume the mission deck) and voidraven. This also happened with wracks and a heamo getting the order in early. Im not supposed to know but as he says I pretty much bought his DE range he would inform me asap of any DE releases
It goes up for preorder on Friday !!!!!

Linky Looks very nice but, as I said before, it will need to have a pretty decent bump in its rules to make me buy one.

| Agree count. It is a HUGE target, with what, 2 guns? maybe a bomb? If it is no more useful than it is now, it still will never see the table in even semi-competitive play.
Vector Dancer, a bomb every round and twin link the void lances... maybe then.
beautiful model though.

| @ Elzador He finds out Monday/Tuesday whats up for preorder that Saturday, then gets a price for it on Wednesday. Normally he doesn't say anything before the Friday/Sat but after getting to know him over the past year and a bit and spending enough to keep him in business for the next 10+ years he lets me know on any DE releases. So it should be up for preorder on Sat.. If not I may have to find a new shop don't think I could take it if it wasn't true | |

I'm sure the new codex will be announced in this week's White Dwarf. Taffy10 is simply saying that his FLGS is basically letting him order one now and they'll place the order when it is actually up for pre-order. Don't let it worry you.
