The other option is that they are not toying with us and they really think giving an additional attack to Kabalites is such a game-changer. So yes that is actually a message of hope as it would show more understanding of the faction, than the alternative.

Toying would mean what they knows what they previewed was bad. If not, it's bare incompetence, and it's a very bad sign for the codex.

Something I just realized. If Fester Discipline is a new psychic discipline for Deathguard, our supplement is from the page counts as big as one psychic discipline. Even though I think 4 pages are a little excessive for what normally would be 6 powers.

You're all far too bleak, I bet we'll get an amazing bonus to Cult of Strife that allows one unit to overwatch per turn (for free!)

I wonder, what's the worst and best case for the supplement book?

Best case: Heavy Wych Cult lists are somewhat viable in the main book. But the supplement allows for completely different builds and has unique custom rules for combat drugs, power from pain and stratagems. Similar to the Haemonculus Coven supplements in 7th.

It makes all Wych Cult units viable in their own way. This includes unique bonuses to Beasts, Hellions and Jetfighters. Perhaps even something special for Mercenaries which work in the employ of CoS.

Worst Case: The supplement has some situational stratagems and focuses mostly on Crusade Rules. However, you are forced to only field <WYCH CULT> units. Overall, our cult units got some minor buff in the codex but all structural issues remain. Nothing changes and we continue using Coven + some Kabal.


Honestly, I love the idea of a viable army that is mostly wych cults. All it would need are the right changes to beasts and aircraft. I doubt that this will happen, but I'd like to think that there is a chance.

Im excited to give my money to GW for this new codex.

Everything I am seeing is increasing damage output, without touching our toughness/survivability. So many cool things could be in this codex. Playstyle will obviously need to change, which will annoy people. But thats life.

So far everything i have seen has been positive. (I agree with many though, that only minorly positive).

That said, our strength in my mind has usually been in our special rules and Eldar trikery anyway. So I'm waiting to see what comes through there. I'm cautiously optimisitic that we will get to the point that I am confident that we have the potential to compete with Marine armies. I don't think we'll be better than them. I just want to be able to compete.

Your best case sounds like the best case I also could think of, though for me even more unlikely than the worst case. Why should they do all this for only one wych cult? And it sounds like it would be hard to fit all on 4 pages.

@ silverglade exactly my thought! i don't want to surpass every other armies, i just want to compete with them, lose or win, and feel that i actually had some fun.

I understand the requests from others, because i share them: i want additional room for my transports, i want an updated poison ruling etc....but if in the end i don't receive them....i'll just figure out something else to make my plan works (my plan being to have fun)

It will rise again, we have lived through this 3 times already, but when it rises it's the annoying, screaming sun from rick and morty

Would it be such a loss though? They can just take all the rules of Strife and give it a new name (like Seventh Woe).

As for the content, they could go the same route as Exodites in PA. You have a stratagem which let's you choose from a list of new abilities for some of your units. One thing could be that Beastmasters give their beasts Advance + Charge.

I have been out of commenting here lately, partially due to the general pessimistic tone i have seen around (except of Kalmah, damn i like your view XD) so i dont get my own enthusiasm for starting a new army crushed so soon by some peole around here. So yeah, i just came to say that im on the "sun will rise" part of the line and wont make any harsh comment untill i have the codex on my own hands and can give it a nice and long read. Until then, its just all speculation and personal feelings, and that says a lot of each each one of you.

I will go back to painting my army, if you excuse me. I will upload them (hopefully) sometime soon!

So...does anyone have any predictions as to why, from a lore perspective, Lelith is going to be here on this planet? Maybe something I missed? The Piety and Pain article says she's making a city sized arena to fight... Sisters of Battle? Why? I could see some random never before named Succubi doing that, sure. But Lelith herself? Doesn't she have better things to do? What happened to running around with the Ynnari? Or hunting down the Chaos Marine Lucian to try and fight him without his cursed armor?

Anything is better than spending time with Ynnari. If I spent time with Ynnari I’d probably become a space nun just to find some excitement.

i dont remember where i saw it but isnt it implied that Vect sent her with the Ynnari so she can work as his agent..?

I'm pretty sure her reason literally was just to fight Slaanesh, no joke I'm pretty sure the lore is;

I mean o dont expect Tolkien levels of storytelling but just...wow

You have to remember Leliths personality up until this point is shes so good at fighting, that duels are boring. She only ventures out if it means facing foes that might, MIGHT, me a challenge for her. Her turning an entire city into a deathtrap just to draw out the strongest sisters is literally her definition of minimum effort.
